On Monday, April 1, PCWA performed its snow survey in the American River Watershed at its Middle Fork Hydroelectric Project.
The April snow survey resulted in an average snow depth of 116 inches and an average snow water equivalent of 53 inches. This is 185 percent of the long-running average of measurements taken at this location for over 50 years.
These on-the-ground snow surveys provide PCWA with measurements that can be used to plan and optimize PCWA's water and hydroelectric future for customers.
