A first attempt to improve and serve....

Dear Lovely Clients,
I am writing to you on this beautiful weekend, hoping that you all are out of doors enjoying the autumn weather. For some of us, fall brings tremendous relief. For others, the departure of the warm weather and long days is a time of loss, a harbinger of the cold, dark months ahead. It is this duality that brings forth a bit of an identity crisis and contributes to the early colds and coughs already emerging this season.

Part of us still wants the slowness of summer, the freedom of gauzy fabric and open toed shoes. Part of us craves the structure of work and school and a return of initiative and drive. As an antidote, it is important to spend more time in nature.

Letting ourselves fully feel the shift on a cellular level allows an organic recalibration to the increased demands for productivity. And at the same time, it encourages staying slow enough to witness the change in the light and timbre of one’s inner and outer worlds.

CENTERED Practice: Sacral Motion is happening at Studio 26 on Sunday, October 21 from 1-4.
I will be reviewing the optimal biomechanics of the sacrum and taking us through CENTERED movement techniques to encourage and support healthy sacral dynamics. The teachers that have participated so far have appreciated the opportunity to sharpen their critical thinking, palpation, visual and sensory skills in a very supportive, attentive environment. I hope you can join us!

I have recently received the news that Yogasana, a beloved Brooklyn yoga center with some of the finest teachers in the New York yoga community has capitulated to untenable rent increases. Final classes will be on December 1.

More and more practitioners are facing these sorts of challenges, and I feel that it is important that we acknowledge that the value of integrity does not always meet market demand. This is not a failure on the part of the studio, it is the result of a shrinking of our economic ecosystem which has become inhospitable to small service-related ventures.

Yogasana—You will be missed. As will the countless other artisanal businesses that have fallen on the sword of the market place.
When we embark on fall projects we need time to transition our digestive path from summer lightness to winter heaviness. One great way to do this is with ARTICHOKES, which clear the liver and gallbladder to better handle the fats we require in cold weather. (And yes, getting to the heart of an artichoke is a meditation unto itself.)

Accompany your artichokes with pesto, lemon butter or olive tapenade for a scrumptious accompaniment to any fall main dish.

Thank you for staying present, for reading, for connecting. It is an honor to serve.

With folded palms,

Stay in Tune. Stay in Touch.

As my work develops and expands, I'll be using this letter to stay in touch; share new offerings, workshops, and opportunities; and announce blog postings and other writings as they unfold. But please also know that I understand completely if you are limiting your digital diet. You are always in my heart no matter what.
