Open Access Week 2019: Focus on Open Science

International Open Access Week is October 21-27, 2019!

 Research Data Management Offboarding Checklist

When employees leave, they take their skills and institutional knowledge with them. It is important to record essential informative information related to projects and datasets to ensure the success of future users. This new checklist is designed to guide the knowledge transfer process.

NIH Announces Partnership with figshare

NIH is committed to making datasets resulting from NIH investigator publications more accessible. In August, NIH announced a pilot with the repository figshare to help address issues surrounding data sharing requirements. This is a one-year pilot program to test the usefulness of formally adding generalist data repositories to the NIH data ecosystem.

NIH STRIDES Initiative Update

The NIH Science and Technology Research Infrastructure for Discovery, Experimentation, and Sustainability (STRIDES) Initiative allows NIH and NIH-funded researchers to explore the use of commercial cloud environments to analyze and store their data. The Initiative provides cost-effective access to cloud platforms, including Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud, to help advance biomedical research.

The HMS IT Data Architecture team is hosting a collaborative Data as a Second Language Workshop. The workshop will provide you with the tools and confidence to explore, manipulate and visualize data.
