IMPORTANT NOTICE - WBC TRACTORS
On a recent sting carried out by the WBC Commodore, we have ascertained that there are people using our tractors that are not boat club members (visitors over the weekends or here on holiday) and some crew members of member’s boats who have not been through the tractor training.
We have recently had an instance where a member used a tractor that had been put away with a sign on it not to use, as the front carriage pin had become dislodged resulting in the whole front end of the tractor becoming very unsafe and difficult to steer. This situation put the tractor at risk of more damage, the driver at risk, and members of the public at risk. He was told by a committee member not to use the tractor but did so anyway. He would have been in the water faster had he shown a bit more patience as the committee member was in the process of launching boats. That tractor was repaired about an hour later. Tractor abuse will not be tolerated. All boat club members please ensure that your tag is attached to your trailer near or on the winch stem. We will be checking over the next month that this is happening.
As at the 1st of April…………NO TAG NO TRACTOR.
We have also been reviewing tractor use from an Insurance and liability aspect. To this, we will be sending boat-owning members a contract agreement that will have to be signed and returned to the club. This contract will be in force from 1st May.
We will also be collecting your boat and contact information to update the tower database.
AGAIN NO CONTRACT NO TRACTOR
We have some 375 boat-owning members and growing, we now need to tighten up our liabilities from the club's point of view, the tractors, as you know, are operating on Council land (the Ramp) and technically a public road ( the beach).
C Mark and P Wootton Cup
Although it was a hard day fishing last Saturday the weather was superb! Thank you to all of our club members that volunteer from traffic management, weighing, data entry, registrations, organising food and tower watch this is all appreciated and runs such a smooth day.
Unfortunately, the Wootton Cup remains with Kapiti for another year.
Better luck for us next year!
ENUFFZED played live at the club a couple of Saturdays ago. What a great night well supported by our members and their guests dancing and singing into the night.
A special thanks to the committee, Al and team in the kitchen and of course Evie and Renee behind the bar.
As always we look forward to next event so stay tuned.
