Want to know how to make moving less stressful?

Moving is one of the more stressful things people do in life and most people move every five years. Below are some helpful hints to make this life event less stressful:

~Make a master checklist to help prioritize your move. The checklist will be a document that everyone can refer to for the move and your help is less likely to stand around since they can always refer to the checklist.

~Make sure your bed, bed sheets, pillows, your essential clothes for a few days, and basic kitchen utensils, cups are the last things to pack on the truck. These items should be the first thing that comes off the truck.  At the end of a long day of moving you will want to be able to eat and fall into a deep sleep in your own bed.

~I would also suggest the washer and dryer be on the list for last items loaded since you will likely be washing clothes the first day.

~Ask for help especially the heavy stuff and use mechanical advantage like dollies, moving straps and/or furniture sliders when you can.

Moving is not the most enjoyable thing we do, but I hope your next one goes a little easier with these helpful tips. Remember, stay organized and stick to the checklist.

Happy Memorial Day to our United States Veterans past and present. We all have family who contributed to protecting our country in war time and peace. Thank you to all our current and past service members. I want to take the time to recognize those in my family for their contributions. Thank you Rex Sr. Darnell, United States Air Force, Rex Jr. Darnell, United States Army, Rusty Darnell, United States Air Force, Tony Darnell  United States Army, Bill Coombs, United States Marine Corp and Tom Irving,  Red Cross (WWII Medal of Freedom).

Moving straps help move bulky items without using a dolly. I have used them to lift washers, dryers and even refrigerators and freezers. They do make the job so much easier and I do not know what I did without them in the past (my brain won't let me remember the sore back muscles). There are many examples and different variations and they can be purchased at your local hardware store.
