Keep your home safe from brown recluse spiders
Brown recluse spiders prefer places to live which mimic their natural log, leaf and rock habitat. The reclusive nature of this spider means it is commonly found in cardboard boxes, shoes, furniture, bedding, rubber tires and other dry, dark warm locations in a home. Thus, one of the keys in eradicating this spider, or reducing its numbers, is to eliminate favorable conditions for them.
  1. Consider switching to plastic containers with flat bottoms (no feet) to protect your storage items. Flat bottomed containers sit on the floor and make it difficult for spiders to hide.
  2. Spiders can use dust ruffles around beds and walls to join you in bed. Place beds away from walls and remove dust ruffles to reduce this risk.
  3. Shake out all clothing laying on the floor before putting it on.
  4. Place sticky traps around the perimeter of rooms.
  5. Brown recluse spiders hide in the day so this is a good time to clean out a storage room. Vacuum up dead bugs and spiders as you clean up a room. Anything you move or disturb may have the potential to flush out a brown recluse. Carefully dispose of the vacuum bag after vacuuming up spiders in a sealed trash bag that is placed outside for trash day.

Are you ready to make some money?

Last month's newsletter included tips to make moving less stressfull. This month let's explore what to do with the items that are are not being utilized in your home. If an item stays in a box for more than a year then you probably don't need it. Haven't worn that shirt for two years? Probably a sign it is time to go.

So what to do with those unwanted items?  Should you have a garage sale, donate to charity or order a 40 foot trash dumpster from your local trash provider? (My family filled a dumpster, only to need to repeat this cleaning process eight years later. The second dumpster was needed mostly because of the leftovers of St. Patrick's Day floats constructed in my garage). There are many options to dispose of your things and here are a few ideas.
  1. Craigslist, Ebay
  2. Newspaper advertisments
  3. Local Facebook Garage Sale and Bartering/Swap Pages
  4. Consignment stores
  5. Pawn shops
  6. Yard Sales
  7. Charity Donation: Family Promise, Salvation Army or Goodwill
I wish you the best of luck in your efforts to sell, swap and/or donate! I have included a link below for more information.
