Barbara S. Goodman Donor Recognition Evening in New York
On Monday, September 9th, a packed house of more than 130 attendees joined ICRF's Board of Trustees for the 15th annual Barbara S. Goodman Scientific Awards & Donor Recognition Evening at the Museum of the City of New York.
The evening was a celebration of hope and achievement in 2019, led by Master of Ceremonies Kenneth E. Goodman. In addition to formally announcing the outstanding recipients of ICRF's 69 new cancer research grant awards, the night was dedicated to recognizing the commitment and generosity of the many friends that join us in our life-saving mission.
This year ICRF was honored to welcome Arnold Baskies, former Chairman of the National Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society and an ICRF Trustee, as Special Guest Speaker.
Thank you to all who joined us for this spectacular event and we look forward to seeing you next year!

Leanne Matlow

Leanne Matlow is on a mission.  Her mission is to bring information, strategies and hope to individuals suffering from a mental health challenge (and to their families who suffer along with them).   Today there is a stigma attached to having a mental health challenge and to talking about it publicly, much in the same way that cancer was not talked about openly twenty years ago.  Today, thanks to the work of scientists, physicians and organizations such as Israel Cancer Research Fund there is help and there is hope for cancer sufferers.  The same is true for mental health challenges: if we talk about it we will learn that we need not suffer alone, and in fact there is hope.
This was the message Leanne shared as one of the 2019 ICRF Woman of Action honourees.  Her commitment to ICRF is longstanding having attended ICRF sponsored galas, concerts and scientific evenings for many years.  Leanne also sweated it out for ICRF in the recent Bike for the Fight event.  Leanne is the founder of Mental Health Empowerment Day which this year is on Sunday October 27 at Beth Tzedec in Toronto. This is a day devoted to sharing best practices, strategies and inspiration to empower those suffering with a mental health challenge, and their parents, teachers and friends who suffer alongside them, to live their best lives.  Information about this powerful day is available at

Our mission is to continue to find treatments and cures for all forms of cancer, utilizing the unique benefits Israel and its scientists have to offer. The results of the research have a significant impact in Toronto, across Canada and throughout the world.
