No Tech Day

For your final challenge - chose one day to put aside all the tech you use for leisure (and the noise it comes with) - except for work or study purposes - no mobile phones, no laptops, no tablets, no radios.

Did you know that streaming and emails contribute to your carbon footprint? The greenhouse gas emissions of video-on-demand services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime are equivalent to the emissions of a country such as Chile. This week's challenges have helped us to be mindful again of the nature around us and our responsibility to care for it. Part of that care is to enjoy it!

We're not posting any extra links for this one. So, instead of streaming, go find a stream! Listen to a tweet from a bird instead of reading a tweet on your phone!

Afternoon 'hi' tea!

We can't wait to see you this afternoon! We hope you'll be able to join us from wherever you are to catch up and relax. We'd love to hear your thoughts on how we can mark Easter together - though far apart - this year and what the new guidance may mean for meeting up in person! And maybe some games as well! (you'll just have to come along a see.. just don't make today your 'no tech day' :)

World Theatre Day

During lockdown theatres have been reaching out in so many different and creative ways - through youtube productions, street-side performances. But many of us are still missing that theatre-experience. Why note show your support by checking out some local, national or international theatre this weekend?

Eco-Challenge

In the Christian tradition, the time of Lent is a time of self-examination, often through prayer, fasting, penance and giving to those in need. It can be a time to reflect on one's personal relationship with God and our global relationship with God's gift of creation. This Lent, you are invited to take part in 6-weeks of Eco-Challenges as we reflect on how we impact the environment. A different Eco-Challenge will be revealed each Wednesday on our Facebook page and Instagram (with reminders in the Friday newsletter). I hope you'll join us!

Feeling a bit ...?

Many of us are feeling a bit weary and fed-up at the moment and may just need some space to talk. If you're feeling a bit down or anxious or sad or on edge or a bit lost in the midst of everything going on around you - remember that the chaplain is here to provide support for you. Feel free to get in touch over the phone or email if you'd like to schedule a time to talk.

ILSC Book Club

March's book is A Thousand Splendid Suns by  is a breathtaking story set against the volatile events of Afghanistan's last thirty years - from the Soviet invasion to the reign of the Taliban to post-Taliban rebuilding - that puts the violence, fear, hope, and faith of this country in intimate, human terms. It is a tale of two generations of characters brought jarringly together by the tragic sweep of war, where personal lives - the struggle to survive, raise a family, find happiness - are inextricable from the history playing out around them.
Join us on 7 April to discuss your thoughts! Whether you've read a little or a lot, we all have something to share. Upcoming reads:
April: Blindness by José Saramago
