November Issue #51.1

ILSConnect

Keeping us all connected with what's happening at the ILSC and around London!
November brings you opportunities to join interesting and fun events, widen your horizon by learning about other faith traditions, and of course get ready for the holiday season! Check below for Interfaith Week events and our Christmas Market Crawl that replaced the Holiday event. We're looking forward to seeing you!

If you are looking for a part-time job and speak Swedish, take a look at the bottom of the letter for a job posting! There you'll also find a Lutheran podcast, this time with a topic of Lutheran identity (some funny answers included).

Interfaith Week

King's College London (where Sarah is now working) is arranging a bunch of Interfaith week events, that bring together people from different traditions to learn and discuss about their own and others' faiths.

The week kicks off with a Scriptural Reasoning event on Wed 17th, where three chaplains discuss texts from their own traditions related to environmental issues.

On Thursday 18th you have a chance to get together for some tea and cake, chat about faith and music from different faith traditions.

On the following week, Wednesday 24th you can join the Faith Crawl - a bit like a pub crawl, but better - to visit places of worship of different traditions.

Find more information on Instagram and event pages (links below).

If you have any questions about attending any of the events, don't hesitate to contact students@lutheran.org.uk or sarah.farrow@kcl.ac.uk !

You are most welcome to join!

Listen to a podcast

What is a Lutheran? What it means to be a Lutheran? Listen to the first episode of a podcast series by the Council of Lutheran churches, this episode's main topic being the Lutheran identity.

You may also spot a familiar voice, and hear some funny answers to the question "What is a Lutheran?" from people at King's Cross (not so many of them had any idea!).
Listen to the podcast!

Christmas Market Crawl

Change of plans! We had to cancel our Holiday event that was planned to be on Friday 19th November, but INSTEAD we have a Christmas Market Crawl on Saturday 20th to get our Christmas spirits up!

During the day we'll visit Christmas Fairs at the Finnish and Swedish churches, drop in to visit the Norwegian and (maybe) Danish churches and check out some other Christmas Markets on our way. This is your chance to taste some holiday treats from the Nordic countries and maybe even start shopping for presents (if you haven't already)!

We will update the route and estimated times on the Facebook event and share them on Instagram, so stay tuned for that! You can crawl with us the whole tour or join at any point which is convenient to you. Please let us know if you're interested!

Feel free to email any questions or express your interest to students@lutheran.org.uk.
