Wherever you are!

In the Christian tradition, the time of Lent is a time of self-examination, often through prayer, fasting, penance and giving to those in need. It can be a time to reflect on one's personal relationship with God and our global relationship with God's gift of creation. This Lent, you are invited to take part in 6-weeks of Eco-Challenges as we reflect on how we impact the environment. A different Eco-Challenge will be revealed each Wednesday on our Facebook page and Instagram (with reminders in the Friday newsletter). I hope you'll join us!

World Day of Prayer

We've had a recent tradition of the ILSC and St Mary's German church of joining together to mark the World Day of Prayer - a day celebrating women from around the world. This year, the service comes from Vanuatu with a focus on gender and climate justice. We are looking for readings to take part in this service (which will take place on Zoom). Let us know if you're able to lend your voice!

ILSC Book Club

February's book is A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles: In 1922, Count Alexander Rostov is deemed an unrepentant aristocrat by a Bolshevik tribunal, and is sentenced to house arrest in the Metropol, a grand hotel across the street from the Kremlin. Rostov, an indomitable man of erudition and wit, has never worked a day in his life, and must now live in an attic room while some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history are unfolding outside the hotel’s doors. Unexpectedly, his reduced circumstances provide him entry into a much larger world of emotional discovery. Join us later this month to discuss your thoughts! Whether you've read a little or a lot, we all have something to share. Upcoming reads:
March: A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
April: Blindness by José Saramago
