ILSC Book Club

This month's (and next month's) book is The Humans by Matt Haig: After an 'incident' one wet Friday night where Professor Andrew Martin is found walking naked through the streets of Cambridge, he has not been feeling quite himself. Food sickens him. Clothes confound him. Even his loving wife and teenage son are repulsive to him. He feels lost amongst a crazy alien species and hates everyone on the planet. Everyone, that is, except Newton, and he's a dog. Join us later this month to discuss your thoughts! Whether you've read a little or a lot, we all have something to share.

One Good Thing to Do Today

We're all feeling a bit weary, a bit drained, and the well we've been drawing from may be getting a bit shallow. But have no fear - Time Out has our backs and has put together a 'daily to-do' to inspire us to do one good thing for ourselves every day for the next 50 days (one week at a time). They're centred around London but let us know if you're able to translate some to where you are (and maybe even share some photos on Facebook?)

Happiness Half Hour

I'd like to invite you to join me on a 'Happiness Course'. Based on the Bristol University class, this half-hour podcast offers a one half-hour podcast each week to learn more about happiness, and how to 'Hack your happiness: simple strategies proven by science' with one to try each week.

This week after you listen to the podcast, try your hand at a gratitude journal! And feel free to get in touch if you'd like to join a group to share what we've learned!

Volunteering!

Helping others helps our own mental health - and makes the world a better place. Why not see what you might be able to take part in? Below is a link to volunteering in London - if you're not in London take 15 minutes to look online and see how you can safely help your community during lockdown.

Feeling a bit ...?

Many of us are feeling a bit weary and fed-up at the moment and may just need some space to talk. If you're feeling a bit down or anxious or sad or on edge or a bit lost in the midst of everything going on around you - remember that the chaplain is here to provide support for you. Feel free to get in touch over the phone or email if you'd like to schedule a time to talk.
