ILSC Book Club

This month we're reading The Children of Men by P.D. James. The year is 2021. No child has been born for twenty-five years.  Under the despotic rule of Xan Lyppiat, the Warden of England, the old are despairing and the young cruel. Theo Faren, a cousin of the Warden, lives a solitary life in this ominous atmosphere. That is until a chance encounter with a young woman leads him into contact with a group of dissenters. Suddenly his life is changed irrevocably, as he faces agonising choices, which could affect the future of humanity.
Join us to share your thoughts  - whether you've read the whole book or just a little, we all have something to share!

A different kind of ILSC?

Sadly, we all know that the ILSC housing is closing down at the end of June. The residents are who the ILSC is and we will greatly miss this unique community. However, there may be an opportunity for the chaplaincy to continue working in Bloomsbury and creating a 'community centre' for students studying in London. I would greatly value the input of ILSC residents (past and present) and friends of the ILSC to hear what you think this kind of new place could be? What are the best bits of the ILSC that we can continue to provide for students in a new way? There will be two Zoom meetings taking place. And if you are unable to take part , there will also be a questionnaire available to add some comments. If you would be interested in taking part, please contact Pastor Sarah.

Feeling a bit ...?

If you're feeling a bit down or anxious or sad or on edge or a bit lost in the midst of everything going on around you - remember that the chaplain is here to provide support for you. Feel free to get in touch over the phone or email if you'd like to schedule a time to talk.

If you haven't already, please make sure you send in your 'thank you' messages to ILSC staff. The Big Book of Thank You will 'close' on 31 May. You can add your message here. We then hope to send these on to staff in June.
