Oct. 2014 Cowboy Challenge Grosses over $7,000 in Entries, Sponsorships and Donations!

Like Cowboy Challenge was a Big Success! on Facebook

The East County Equestrian Foundation Cowboy Challenge held Oct. 14th on the site of the future Lakeside Equestrian Park had a great turnout. Youth, novice, amateur and open riders braved Chad Waldhauser’s challenging course to vie for prizes and prize money. ECEF President Michelle deVries sent the riders on course to face tough obstacles including a bridge, a gate, a mud puddle, the cowboy curtain and more. First place earned beautiful buckles and payback to amateur and open riders. Debra Eggert and Darla Frye helped reset the courses. Second place won a beautiful headstall, third place took home halters and fourth a nice gift basket. Over 100 competitors and spectators enjoyed the yummy bbq cooked up by ECEF vice president Julie Murphy and her husband Brian and served up by Monica Martin, CJ Truesdale and Darla Frye. Volunteers Bobbi Remnant and Karen Ensall manned the table of wonderful drawing prizes donated by Professional’s Choice, T&R Distributors, Carter’s Hay and Grain, Star Milling and Silvercreek Fine Art. Tom Laff of Southland Growers donated the beautiful color bowls.

The buckles were sponsored by: Don Bright of Lone Oak Ranch, Joe and Daya Salas of NTG Racing, Allen Parker Hay and Diamond D Feed.  Dos Gabachos offered up a delicious hot breakfast and Cynthia Fraiser had her uWannaCup Coffee truck on site for tasty coffee drinks and smoothies.

John deVries prepped the grounds for the riders and several of the ECEF board of directors readied the property for the riders and spectators. Everyone was excited to enjoy the park and all were imaging how amazing it will be once San Diego County completes the facility. Banner sponsors were Realtor Sandy Angione, East County Feed and Adventures on Horseback. Check out the photos from the event on our Facebook page. And here’s a link to the story from The East County California by Ana Nita.
