Urgent Need for Registered Red Cross Volunteers

President Shannon received this from DG Cindi O'Neil:

"I have just received another special request from Carisa Hettich, SW Oregon Director of the American Red Cross, and Rotary member of the Rotary Club of Eugene Delta. She needs more registered Red Cross volunteers. Our District and all of Oregon is now classified as a Level 7 disaster area by the Red Cross, the same level as Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy. She has crew leaders flying in from around the country to direct volunteers, but now more than ever she needs Rotary to send more registered volunteers to hit the ground. Volunteering will not necessarily be limited to shelters. There are many, many other jobs that are needed.

I know as Club Presidents you are aware of who in your Club is already a registered with the Red Cross as a volunteer. Please urge them to immediately email me their name and contact information so we can activate them if they are willing. I am also asking you as Club President to request that your members who are able to register with the Red Cross to volunteer, take some training and become vetted on the Red Cross website.  It is a three-hour commitment to register. Have these new registrants send me their names and contact information as soon as they are registered. I will forward them to Director Carisa Hettich to expedite their activation.

Previously you were asked to forward the registered volunteer names to your Assistant Governor. I am taking out this step, to help Carissa act more quickly and efficiently. Send the them to me directly. But should you as Assistant Governor continue to receive volunteer names please also forward these to me immediately. I am sending the names in in batches to keep things efficient for Director Carisa."
