Join us for lunch On Tuesday, Oct 18 at the Riverhouse - Restaurant Side. Our lunch program will be autobiographies of some of our newer members: Janie Hayden, Fred Rafilson, and Jamie Garza. Come get to know more about these awesome new folks in our club!

October 24th is National Polio Day
Consider a donation to PolioPlus for Polio eradication

Tim Mobley is participating in the Ride to End Polio on November 19th and is challenging all Rotarians to donate $100 or whatever you feel comfortable giving. Use the link to sponsor his ride and have your donation go to Polio eradication. Your donation will go toward your annual Polio Plus Society and Paul Harris points.

HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS PROGRAM
PROGRAMS, PROGRAMS, GET YOUR PROGRAMS HERE!!

Programs were handed out at 2 High School Home Games this past Friday. Pete Korstad’s boys, Brook and Bennett helped hand out programs at the Summit Homecoming Game. Pete along with Mike Beeks assisted the brothers with the handing out of programs at Summit. Matt Ertle also had his son assist him with program handouts at Bend High School. Handing out programs is fun and well-received by spectators.

There are only a few more games left this season and we need members to help pass out programs for the following games:

Thursday, October 20, Bend High School
7:30 PM game time, Arrive 6:30 PM to start handing out programs

Friday, October 21, Mountain View High School (vs Summit)
This is a big game!!
Game time 7:00 PM, Arrive 6:00 PM to hand out programs

SLEEP IN HEAVENLY PEACE - Bed build day for kids
and a little friendly Rotary competition
There are kids sleeping on the floor in Deschutes County! Help end child “bedlessness”, Sign up now to join all four Bend Rotary clubs on Saturday, October 29, and help meet the goal of building 25 bunk beds on that day and maybe showing the other clubs what we already know - The Rotary Club of Greater Bend is the best!

Details:

When: Saturday, October 29
Time: 9 am – 2:30 pm (45 min lunch break)
Work 1/2 day or full day shift or whenever you can assist
Lunch and all necessary tools will be provided
Location: Aaken Electric, 1260 NE 1^st, Bend
Volunteers may have an opportunity to help deliver a bed to a Central Oregon family.

Kids are the winners if we all participate in this friendly competition!

The COCC Foundation is asking for our help to review the second cycle of scholarship applications. They have already awarded $1.3 million to students attending COCC this Fall, but have about $600,000 remaining to award to deserving COCC students for the year.

The Foundation is looking for volunteers to review and score scholarship applications. This year the review process is being managed online through our scholarship portal... meaning you can review applications from any device, anywhere in the world. You will be able to log in to our system anytime from October 25 – October 31. The review process should take approximately 1-2 hours and doesn't have to be completed all at once. We provide you with an easy-to-follow scoring rubric and review instructions.

Please register to confirm your volunteer spot: CLICK HERE TO REGISTER. Registration closes 10/17. Each volunteer from your household will need to register with their own preferred email.
