Worldwide Polio Surveillance
We are often asked why we need to raise so much money for polio, when there were only 33 cases in 2 countries last year? The simple answer is that we need to vaccinate every child in the world under five until polio is eradicated. That is 450 million children! Rotary helps fund laboratories, clinics, and field teams, including 150,000 workers in 70 countries. That costs a lot of money.
