Greetings, Pacific Northwest District Key Clubbers!

For the Americans, I hope that you all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! I personally spent the holiday with my grandparents in Eastern Washington, tried a new taco truck, and took my time away from home to focus in on what I wanted to accomplish for Key Club this fall.

This Biweekly Update will focus on topics that are relevant for the beginning of the school year. First of all, the annual Membership Campaign is taking place this week! MGRC Chair Abdullah Islam has been working very hard to prepare materials for your club to use during this upcoming recruitment season. Second, the Pacific Northwest Opportunities Fund (PNWOF) Application went live this Sunday. The PNWOF is an awesome opportunity for clubs to enhance the quality of their service projects and I highly recommend looking into it. Lastly, Early Bird Registration for Key Club Day East closes in less than two weeks, but at-the-door tickets will still be available for anyone who wasn’t able to purchase Key Club Day North or South tickets before Sunday, August 25th.

As always, feel free to reach out to me at if you have any questions!

The Membership Growth and Reactivation Committee is hosting our district’s annual Membership Campaign this week! Starting today, the Committee is releasing a variety of new and updated resources for your club to use throughout the year. The Campaign will end on Friday, September 6th with the annual Membership Growth Webinar. The webinar will include tips on how to increase the size of your membership and recruit members, as well as a Q&A session. I would suggest that any club looking for new strategies to help achieve their membership goals attend this webinar. It can be difficult to come up with new and effective ideas in the midst of recruitment season chaos, but this webinar will set your club up with the tools it needs to confidently invite others to meetings and implement new recruitment techniques. You can get an invitation to the webinar by clicking the link below! The Committee has also developed a new recruitment video for your club to use during promotions this fall! “What is Key Club?” can be found on the PNW Key Club YouTube channel or in the attached link below. Throughout the last few months, the Committee has also been working tirelessly to revamp pre-existing resources, and will be releasing an Updated Membership Growth & Retention Toolkit, Updated Membership Guidebook, and Updated 8th Grade Recruitment Kit at the beginning of the campaign. Any questions regarding the Membership Campaign should be directed to Abdullah at
The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) and PNW Opportunities Fund Grant Applications (PNWOF) were launched two days ago! By providing funding for up to two-thirds of a service project, clubs have the opportunity to give back to their community in new and innovative ways that they may not have been able to accomplish before. If your club is in need of unique service project ideas, I would encourage them to reference past grant recipients’ projects or work with your advisors to analyze a problem in the community that your club may be able to solve with additional financial assistance. The YOF will award grants of $100 to $2,000 and applications must be received by Tuesday, October 15th at 8:59 PM Pacific Standard Time. The PNWOF will award grants of $100 to $1,000 and applications must be received by October 31st at 11:59 PM PST. I hope to see an increase in the number of applications submitted this year, as these grants open new doors for clubs, and encourage you to reach out to PNWOF Chair, Katie Sell with any questions. See the link below for more information about the PNWOF or head to for information about the YOF grant.
Key Club Days will take place on September 7th in Federal Way, Washington; September 14th in Portland, Oregon; and September 28th in Spokane, Washington. Although Early Bird Registration has closed for Key Club Days North and South, members may still purchase tickets at the door for all Key Club Days. However, Early Bird Registration for Key Club Day East will remain open until Sunday, September 15th. That’s in less than two weeks! Tickets purchased at the door will cost $35. At-the-door tickets are not guaranteed a meal if we exceed our projected attendance goals. I am so excited to see everyone at Key Club Days this year and would highly recommend purchasing a ticket if you haven’t already. It’s going to be a fun and memorable time!

Curious what happens at Key Club Days? Here’s what to expect this year:
  • Missed your opportunity to purchase Thirst Project Merch at DCON? We will be selling a limited amount of sweatshirts, hoodies, and stickers at each Key Club Day. Additionally, Kellen Brewer will be visiting Key Club Day North again this year to talk about the Thirst Project.
  • Spirit gear is encouraged! We will be giving spirit sticks to the loudest, most spirited divisions at each Key Club Day.
  • Keynote speakers include highly-rated DCON speaker and life coach, Sahil Punamia for Key Club Days North and South and American Ninja Warrior contestant, Hoan Do for Key Club Day East.
  • Each LTG will be organizing a “Meet Your LTG session,” a 30 minute period of time for your division to get together, participate in icebreakers, give updates, and more.
  • After the program ends, we invite you to enjoy the rest of the day in the theme park. By purchasing a Key Club Day ticket, you also gain access to the venue until it closes in the evening.
