Open day season

Welcome to the May edition of the 2021/22 Linking London Uni Connect bulletin.
Below you'll find upcoming events for students and staff - lots of open days coming up.
We've brought back our open day calendar - view and download PDF here and feel free to share with students.

Update on Uni Connect young learner work
We continue to work with our target learners on a progressive programme of activity – currently this is mainly with Year 12/1 learners using our ‘pathway menu’ to look at their options for next year and thinking about what preparation can be done over the summer period. We are delighted to be in ‘graduation week’ for our third Mindmapper programme of this year with students from both Havering Sixth Form and Havering Further Education College having completed a 6-week programme focused on resilience and goal-setting. Finally, this is an important time of year to begin to reflect on our work so far and we are asking all our students on our Pathway programme to complete a final survey to allow us to look at the distance travelled and the impact of our programme.
Update on Uni Connect adult learner work
We have produced three case study videos featuring mature learners speaking about their experiences of higher education. The three videos and a ‘highlight reel’ can be found on our YouTube channel in a playlist here. Please feel free to use/show these during any outreach or IAG work you think is suitable – the three students are from Birkbeck, University of Westminster, and Point Blank Music School and provide some really valuable and inspirational insights.

We have produced 5 posters as a continuation of our ‘Curriculum to Careers’ poster series – the 5 new posters are specifically aimed at Access learners. The subjects covered are Nursing, Education, Social Sciences, Art and Design, and Business. Our previous ones, aimed particularly at BTEC Level 3 students, are here.

Our digital guide for adult learners on Level 2 courses can be found here. This provides advice on what to consider when thinking about progressing into higher education.

We are currently surveying adults on Level 3 and Level 2 courses about their perspectives on higher education - if you would like to pass these surveys onto your adult learners please feel free to do so. Students can enter their email address to be entered into a prize draw to win one of five £20 Amazon vouchers. The survey for adults on Level 3 courses is here, and the survey for adults on Level 2 courses is here. The deadline to complete this is June 10th.
