Working Group

October 2019

Greetings Professional Learning Collaborative,

Autumn has abruptly approached us, which means the end of the year is not too far behind. The Professional Learning Think Tank got off to a great start with our Motivation session, and the Collaboration session is just around the corner. Learn more details about this and other upcoming professional learning opportunities in this month’s newsletter.

Our Next Meeting

Professional Learning Think Tank Session 2: Collaboration

The Collaboration session is an opportunity to partner on a professional learning "small bet" with other workgroup members. Remake Learning will be providing mini-grants to teams of workgroup members to support this work. This session will be held on December 5 from 12-3 pm (location TBD).

To get our wheels turning in advance of the session, please complete this Google doc with a project idea you're currently working on (or would like to work on) that would lend itself to collaboration. This list is by no means exhaustive; it will simply serve as a starting point for our discussions at the session.

Deepening Our Work

The Professional Learning Collaborative's Think Tank Series

The Professional Learning Think Tank welcomes professional development providers to an open, year-long reflection on professional learning in the greater Pittsburgh region. Think Tank events will help providers, developers, and other professional learning leaders reconnect with their passion, further their practice, and explore innovation, equity, and collaboration—all in order to provide more engaging, relevant, and equitable professional learning to educators in the region.

Four sessions will each tackle a different theme:

  • Motivation: Reconnect to the "why" of your work as a provider of professional learning. (Held September 20, 2019)
  • Collaboration: Partner on a professional learning "small bet" with other workgroup members. (December 5, 2019, Location TBD)
  • Inspiration: Learn from local leaders and see how they're transforming student experience through innovative professional learning. (Early 2020)
  • Creation: Using what you've learned, help build the next iteration of a vision for the future of professional learning in our region. (Spring 2020)
