Three new industry-focused training programs are now available to test and deliver

GEM Works helps Saskatchewan mining and supply chain companies eliminate systemic barriers to gender inclusion in the workplace

The International Minerals Innovation Institute (IMII) partnered with MiHR to bring our Gender Equity in Mining Works (GEM Works) program to the Saskatchewan minerals sector. Have a look at our case study report and video testimonials to learn how participating mining companies identified systemic barriers within the policies, processes and procedures of their organization. MiHR is now recruiting participants for the GEM Works cohort set to begin in April 2021. Please contact lkajiura@mihr.ca for more information.
 

Create inclusive work practices with Intercultural Awareness Training

Offered free of charge until April 2021, MiHR’s Intercultural Awareness Training promotes intercultural competencies that are critical to our changing industry and strategies that help attract, integrate and retain a more diverse workforce.  
 
Available in two distinct formats, this eLearning deepens mining stakeholders’ understanding of the value of inclusive and diverse workplaces, helps drive change and encourages professional integration of more immigrants within Canada’s mining sector.
 
The online modules take approximately 60 minutes total to complete, and participants will receive a digital badge and certificate upon completion of the program. If you are a member of the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA), you may use the training as part of your professional development credits.

Register today before the free registration ends April 1, 2021.

Gearing Up opportunities in high demand

MiHR would like to thank the companies who have enthusiastically participated in the Gearing Up work-integrated learning program. The program has reached its full capacity for wage subsidies through to the end of March 2021. Companies still interested in placements before March 2021 are encouraged to complete the following application in order to be put on a waitlist should any additional funding become available.

Applications are currently being accepted for placements beginning on or after April 1, 2021 for the 2021-2022 program year, which ends March 2022.

Mining Career Website in Development

MiHR will soon launch a new mining career website and awareness campaign to raise awareness of mining careers and to raise the industry’s profile; support mining leadership in HR efforts; and make mining a career of choice for students.
