Reminder: Student and Provisional Applicants
Preceptors are reminded that student and provisional applicants, completing practice experience requirements either as part of an educational program or post-graduate practice experience, or unstructured practice experience must be registered with the PEI College of Pharmacy before commencing their practice experience. Registration requirements include additional documentation in addition to a preceptor/site approval form.
Preceptors and employers can verify a student or provisional registrant's status on the PEI College of Pharmacy website under Find a Registrant button on the home page.

Pediatric Medication Errors in the Community: A Multi-Incident Analysis
ISMP Canada Safety Bulletin, released on April 20, 2022, highlights the findings from a multi-incident analysis of harmful medication incidents involving pediatric patients in the community and identifies opportunities to improve pediatric medication safety.
The PEI College of Pharmacy is offering an opportunity to a pharmacy student who is interested in learning more about the regulatory role of the College and assist in the research and development of policies that support pharmacy practice and the College operations.
The position, which is 37.5 hours/week, will commence in May and end in August for a 14-week period.
Under the supervision of the preceptor (Registrar), the student will perform duties that will support current and future activities of the College such as:
Assist the College staff with research including jurisdictional scanning and literature reviews.
Assist with the review and update of registration processes.
Review and apply legislation, standards of practice, code of ethics within the context of college policy development.
Opportunity to observe and participate in core activities of the PEI College of Pharmacy.
The Ideal Candidate
a pharmacy student enrolled in a pharmacy degree program in Canada (a full-time student in 2021-2022 and must be returning to school full-time in 2022-2023);
have excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills (both verbal and written);
experience in research would be considered an asset;
be attentive to detail and accuracy;
be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel;
be a self-starter and an independent worker; and,
be legally entitled to work according to relevant federal and provincial legislation.

2022 AGM-Save the Date
The PEI College of Pharmacy will hold the 2022 AGM on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 6:00 pm. The AGM will be held virtually with limited number of spaces available. More information regarding registration will be made available in the coming weeks.
Submitting Loss and Theft Reports to Health Canada - Fax Line Decommissioned
Health Canada’s Office of Controlled Substances fax line for controlled substance and precursor Loss or Theft Reports has been out of service as of April 5, 2022.
Due to technical issues, it will now be decommissioned.
Health Canada is now in the process of removing all website references to the fax line. If you have attempted to submit a report through fax since April 5th and it did not go through please resubmit using one of the methods identified below:
