Well hello there, fellow hunkerdowner!

Here's hoping that you and yours are hale and hearty and hanging in there throughout the pandemic pandemonium.

We here at Superfine are as happy as clams at high tide because we have just entered an exciting new phase of life: phase two of reopening, to be exact.

This means that, for the second time in our 23-year history, Superfine has outdoor dining.

Outdoor dining, people!

Pigs must be floating while hell cranks out ice cubes, because the outdoor seating dream that has been our Holy Grail for decades has actually become reality.

It took a pandemic to make it possible, but you can now enjoy Superfine's scrumptious quaffs and vittles whilst dining al fresco in the supremely cinematic shadow of the historic Manhattan Bridge. Kiss our grits and call us Lulu!

"The past three months have been a real journey," says Tanya. "I am so proud of our kitchen. My team has remained strong and dedicated to the food that we have created throughout the entire pandemic. I'm proud that we were able to stay open. And I'm proud that we were able to make outdoor dining a reality just in time to celebrate the end of Pride Month."

As with all things Superfine, there was a little bit of magic involved in the process. Tanya and Cara Lee were on their way to the Ft. Greene farmers' market last week when they spotted a slew of school desks that had been put out on the sidewalk for the Sanitation Department to take away.

"They fit in perfectly with our eclectic vibe and were exactly what we needed for socially distanced outdoor seating," she says. "When the outdoor seating ends, we're going to gift them to 10 kids who need a desk at home --
a desk of one's own."

Part of our al fresco proceeds will be donated to this back-to-school initiative, and our friends at
Brooklyn's Exit9 Gift Emporium will be joining in by donating backpacks.

“Breuckelen" may be Dutch for "broken land," but our broken hearts are healing, baby! Like you, we’re taking it day by day and living by our borough's official motto: "Eendraght Maeckt Maght," which means, "Unity Makes Strength.”

Please do come on down so we can greet you mask-to-mask and give you socially distanced elbow bumps along with the same ol' scrumptious food and bevvies you've always known and loved.

XOXO,
Tanya

P.S. Superfine BFF Melanie Hope Greenberg has gifted us with signed copies of her beautiful picture books for children. Mermaids on Parade, Aunt Lilly's Laundromat, A City Is and Down in the Subway are all NYC-themed and will give you wonderful nostalgia for how life was in the olden days of 2019. The books (and lots of other goodies) are all for sale in the Superfine Bodega, so take a gander when you pick up your takeout. All proceeds go to Superfine!

P.P.S. Our beloved Coney Island Mermaid Parade has been transformed into a Tail-a-Thon and will take place on August 29, 2020. It's going to be a virtual sea-lebration, so no matter where you live, you'll be able to participate! Our sequined seashells are ready, and our glue gun's already a-blazin'!
