Congratulations to Gerald Evans and Julie Newman for being the top-two vote-getters in the District 1 election to fill the open council seat. Mr. Evans received 488 votes (17.73% of the total) and Ms. Newman received 469 votes (17.04% of the total).
Per our charter, if no candidate gets more than 50% of the vote, there will be a run-off one month after the election. That run-off will take place from 7am to 7pm on December 1st at Doraville City Hall.
Here are some reminders about the election:
- Polling for all Doraville residents who plan to vote in person on election day will take place at Doraville City Hall (3725 Park Ave, Doraville, GA 30340) on Tuesday, November 3rd from 7am to 7pm. Please bring a state or federally issued form of ID (Driver's License or ID card, Passport, etc)
- Given potential mail delays, voters who have not already mailed their absentee ballots should plan to use the Doraville City Hall drop box (any ballots must be dropped off before 7pm on Tuesday) or vote in person at Doraville City Hall from 7 AM to 7 PM
- Firearms are not permitted within 150 feet of a polling location.
