Doraville Council Will Vote on Mask Ordinance Tonight

COVID-19 cases in the City of Doraville's two zip codes (30340 and 30360) have more than tripled since mid-May. In the midst of this public health emergency, it has become clear to me that we are not going to get ahead of this pandemic unless mask-use becomes much more widespread.

Because of this, at the council's meeting tonight (7/13),  I will be introducing an amendment to our emergency ordinance that will require the use of face coverings inside most businesses as well as outside when social distancing is not feasible. By doing this, I hope we can prevent another lock-down and help save the local economy from additional stress while also saving lives.

New City Manager Sworn In

Our New City Manager, Chris Eldridge, reported to work on July 6th. I swore him in that week in a socially distant setting in City Council Chambers.

Chris is already hard at work and digging into the many organizational and process issues that need to be tackled. He can be reached at chris.eldridge@doravillega.us

Watch Video of the Doraville Police Forum

For the last 6 months, Chief Atkinson served as our Interim City Manager, At the same time, he was also serving in his full-time role as police chief.

In response to the many questions that have arisen about police use of force policies and policing in general, the Chief gave a presentation about Doraville's policies and also took questions from the public. View the full video here.

TAD Advisory Committee - Volunteers Needed!

When a tax allocation district (TAD) was formed by the City of Doraville and Dekalb County to help foster the redevelopment of the former GM plant, one of the requirements was establishment of a "TAD Advisory Committee." This is a watchdog committee that is meant to ensure all parties are meeting their obligations under the agreement.

We need some new members for this committee, so I am calling on any interested parties to apply. Completed applications should be sent to city.clerk@doravillega.us . The application can be found at http://cms.revize.com/revize/doraville/Doraville%20Committee%20Application_final%2006182020.pdf
