Monthly Update from
Mayor Joseph Geierman

In August, Doraville held a mask-giveaway event at International Plaza that we used as an opportunity to publicize the census (with help from CPACS and Red & Green Steakhouse).

Two Opportunities to Give the City Feedback via Zoom this Week

Wednesday (9/9): Public Forum on Spending CARES Act Funding

Doraville will be receiving over $1 million in CARES act funding. On Wednesday, September 9th, we will be holding a public forum to discuss this funding and to get public input for ideas to which we should consider applying the money.

There are strict rules on how these funds can be spent - we are going to use this public forum to talk about those rules, to get input from the city manager about urgent items he thinks we should be allocating this money towards, and also to hear from residents about where they think there is need.

I encourage you to attend! Join the Facebook event link here.

Seven Candidates Quality for Robert Patrick's District 1 Seat

Last month, the city opened up qualifications for the remaining term of Robert Patrick's District 1 council seat, and seven people signed up to run! Here is their information:

Thursday (9/10): Public Forum on Doraville's Mobility Plan

Doraville is in the process of creating a citywide mobility plan, and would like your input! The first step is a public forum that is being conducted this Thursday via Zoom. The session would evaluate existing conditions for our transportation networks,  give you an opportunity to share concerns about your own mobility within the city, and to give ideas about where we should focus on multi-modal improvements within the city.  The meeting is being held Thursday, 9/10 at 6pm and can be accessed via this link: http://bit.ly/DMPmeetingzoom

If you want to give feedback, but can't attend Thursday's forum, you can fill out a survey here.

Still Time to Take Advantage of Permit Fee Holiday

Since July, a residential permit fee holiday has been in effect in Doraville. The holiday expires at the end of this month (September 30). Any permits for residential fences, patios/balconies/decks, retaining walls, sheds, swimming pools, trade permits, driveways and roofs are free through the end of the month! .If you've been thinking about doing some projects around the house, take advantage of this opportunity while it's still available!

Listening to our Business Community

Since being sworn in this January, I've been focused on connecting with Doraville's business community and understanding the issues that are important to them. This month, I had meetings with Jane Ewe of Sweet Hut Bakery and Moon and John Kim of Pioneer Apparel. We talked about their business operations and ways that Doraville can make improvements to its processes that affect businesses.
