Struggling with keeping your new year’s resolutions?

Every year, a third of us make New Year’s resolutions but by mid February, as many as 80% of us will have faltered.  

Here are some top tips to keep you heading in the right direction!

Regain your motivation!

When you are feeling discouraged, remind yourself exactly why you have chosen your goal and what you gain by achieving it. Finding sources of inspiration, joining groups or letting friends and family in can keep your accountable, support you when things get tough and celebrate your achievements with you!

Simplify your goals!

Making a few changes at once can be overwhelming so prioritise one goal at a time and break it down into smaller achievable stages.

Pat yourself on the back from time to time!  

Celebrating your successes reinforces your goal and makes sticking to your resolution that much easier.

Prepare yourself for small lapses!

Encountering a setback is one of the most common reasons why people give up on their goals. We all stumble sometimes, so be kind to yourself and keep going regardless.

If you keep a resolution journal, make a note of when the relapse occurred, what triggered it, and what you might do differently next time you are in the same situation. By understanding the challenges you face, you can better prepare to deal with them in the future.
