If you are following the series, you will know that Andy is currently in Melbourne with his player, Ollie Beadle, who is competing at the Australian Open! 🇦🇺🎾

Are you enjoying this series? We would love to know!

Australian Open - Day 5
It’s Australia Day!

As is the same every day, we begin with an early morning hit at the National Tennis Centre and spend an hour scouting the opponents. This is our final practice day before the tournament begins tomorrow.
With the right game plan we are starting ahead. We chose to use the following from the patterns of play book. It may not seem much, but these random set of numbers connect to a set of great exercises and plans.... with an objective on beating the ex-world number one.

2.1
2.2B
3.1A
3.2A
5.1A
8.1
9.1
9.2

Of course my students have the book, so it’s easy to set work for practice with another player when I am not there, or if they require extra practice.

After a spot of lunch we hit the court again to work on the patterns above. Only an hour and a half was needed to secure a great game plan against Ollie’s first opponent.

Then we were lucky enough to catch Ranah Stoiber, one of the remaining British players now through to the Semi-final of the girls singles.
After a meeting with the officials for the forthcoming days, and some free Rod Laver tickets for the evening session and the day is done. The Australian Federation treat us travellers well and it is much appreciated after such an epic trip to get here.
Stay cool,
