SIX SECONDS of Architecture & Design

WELCH | HALL architects

Why SIX SECONDS?

Each month, we will be sending out brief updates about what's happening with
WELCH | HALL architects.
It only takes about SIX SECONDS to scroll through and check it out. As something sparks your interest, take a moment to read further, click on a photo, or explore the links to dig a bit deeper.

It isn't all about Architecture.
Watch for classic, iconic and cutting edge designs in related fields that inspire us.

On The Boards

EAST TEXAS LAKEHOUSE

Perched on a bluff 50 feet above the water, this home will overlook a small tranquil lake, cradled within the trees. The image below represents one of the various approaches we are exploring during the design process. In this scheme, a poured in-place concrete tube is infilled with wood and glass, set into the hill, sheltering terraces beyond that connect one to the lake.

Featured Projects

TURTLE CREEK RESIDENCE

Designed by George Dahl, The Gold Crest is one of the most architecturally significant buildings on Turtle Creek Boulevard. Our recently completed fourth floor residence takes its design inspiration from the historic 1965 iconic high rise it is housed within.
More information on George Dahl can be found on AIA Dallas | Springboard

FOREST THEATER | DALLAS CENTER FOR ARCHITECTURE
WELCH | HALL was proud to be among the finalists for the Restoration and Adaptive Reuse of the Forest Theater as well as the new Dallas Center For Architecture | Dallas AIA Chapter Offices.

TEXAS MODERN: Redefining Homes in the Lone Star State

Texas Modern  takes a close look into the Lone Star State's innovative contemporary architecture and design.  Set out with beautiful full-color photography and laden with intricate plans and drawings, Texas Modern delves into the finer details of regional architectural styles.

Texas Modern features the Chapel Hill and White Rock Lake II Residences and highlights their thoughtful and contextual siting, use of local materials, spatial extension into the landscape, and timeless character.

WESTERN ART & ARCHITECTURE: Ridgeline Residence

Western Art & Architecture featured the Ridgeline Residence in the December 2017 | January 2018 issue focused on Architecture in the West: From Dallas to Jackson Hole. The feature highlighted the siting of the Ridgeline house along the top of Gros Ventre Ridge overlooking the Grant Teton Mountain range. The entire structure was nestled into the landscape following the natural slope of the land to offer protection from the western sun and winter snow, and to allow for natural sage, grasses, and wildflowers to slowly reclaim the site over time.

CLASSIC FORD BRONCOS

This month features the Classic Ford Bronco, a unique piece of Americana. We recently came across this group that specialize in the comprehensive restoration of vintage Broncos with the same level of craft and detail with which we approach architecture.

Next Month's SIX SECONDS will include an early 1950's Roadster of which only 35 were produced.
