Rubi Galarza has been a part of BHC since 2015 and was recently accepted into multiple medical programs including UCLA and the University of California at Davis. Rubi is committed to utilizing a BHC approach and building power by uplifting the voice of vulnerable populations, including them as stakeholders in decision processes, and empowering them with the tools, knowledge, and resources to drive sustainable changes for health equity.

On April 10, Long Beach hosted the 2019 People's State of The City. Over 300 people came together to hear how low-income communities are changing the landscape of Long Beach to benefit working people. Topics included housing, police, and racial inequality. #StayLoud

Thanks to the work and perseverance of Richmond and partners at RYSE Youth Center and Impact Justice, Contra Costa is the 4th county in California to adopt restorative Justice Diversion strategies for Youth. 
 

BHC City Heights

RESTORATIVE PRACTICES AWARENESS IN SCHOOLS


After years of advocacy and dedication, Mid-City CAN worked to get a statewide restorative practices in schools resolution passed in the CA Senate. The resolution designates the month of September, Restorative Practices in Schools Awareness Month in the state of California. 
 

BHC Santa Ana

PARKS FOR ALL IN SANTA ANA

Santa Ana alongside Vecindario Lacy en Acción(VeLA), SACRed, Kidworkd, Kennedy Commission hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the Sixth and Lacy Park. The groundbreaking celebration was a victory in ensuring our youth have safe spaces to play. Sixth and Lacy Park is set to open in June 2019
