ABBEY SURGERY TAVISTOCK AND BERE ALSTON

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a specialist respiratory nurse to join a friendly rural surgery based within Tavistock serving surrounding local communities.
No previous primary care experience required-would suit a respiratory nurse currently based in secondary care seeking a new challenge.
You will work as an autonomous practitioner within nurse-led clinics responsible for the provision of clinical nursing services for respiratory patients in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team.
A good understanding of national guidelines for COPD and Asthma, including diagnosis and evidence-based interventions is required as well as providing ongoing support, treatment and review.
Further education, training and support will be offered including enrolment on the Practice Nurse Foundation course if necessary or desired.

Nursing 10 Point Plan

We have recently been informed that we will be getting some funding for the Nursing 10 Point Plan

Full Details of Nursing 10 Point Plan

We are already working with the CCG, and the Universities to look at how we can increase the number of mentors and placements, to ensure on-going peer support of mentors and look at hub and spoke models of student placements.

To help with retention we offer on-going training and opportunities to up-skill which are are a good way of retaining staff, along with clear career development plans. We are exploring the viability of the various apprenticeship schemes within general practice. We are also looking at how we can harness and utilise the skills, knowledge and experience of those nurses who are retiring, or retired, and use them to support nurses new to general practice, and in their first few years as a GPN.

We have been working with Plymouth University on Return to Practice programmes.  But with extra funding we can look at developing this more.

Happy to help.

The Devon CEPN team would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

If you need any help with the website, courses which have not been advertised or just want some advice please do not hesitate to contact a member of the team.  We look forward to speaking with you.  Best Wishes
Lucy, Nicci, Kathy and Paddy
