Welcome to the June 2018 News letter

We hope you are all enjoying this sunny weather, we definately are!

We have continued this month with our STP Masterclasses which we have received lots of positive feed back.  The Wider Devon Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) sets out ambitious plans to improve health and care services for people across Devon within a 5 year vision.  Educational Leads across the Devon STP footprint  have been meeting collaboratively to discuss the educational  needs of the workforce to support these plans and  Heath Education England (HEE)  have allocated funds through the STP  to support educational events to be facilitated across the Peninsula at various sites to support STP priorities.

STP Master Classes -  Only two left now

These are free sessions and open to anyone working in the medical profession.  They are held in the evening from 6.00 - 9.00 and a buffet is provided.

12th July 2018 - Long Term Conditions - Exeter
18th July 2018 - Masterclass on Older Persons - Newton Abbott

Using Pharmaceutical Sponsors for our Courses

We are able to provide great courses with the financial help from Pharmaceutical Companies so please do help us to be able to do this by agreeing to us to provide companies with just your name and surgery name at the event you have attended if it is sponsored by Pharma.

Just to reassure you of how this information is used please read on

Pharmaceutical companies hold a database of all Health Care Professionals and the surgeries they work at.  This information is provided to the Pharmaceutical industry by an organisation known as Binleys.  In order to show transparency, and produce an audit trail, when a pharma company support a meeting they have to show which delegates attended the event and ensure that their names are linked to the meeting record.  By providing your name and surgery details to the sponsors does not add you to any database.  You may already exist in the database. Your record will be logged as having attending a meeting supported by the sponsoring company.  This information isn’t shared outside their organisation.  Your details cannot be used in any other way, for contacting, marketing or mailing for example.  Once the flag is made on the meeting record the list that the company receives from this meeting should be destroyed and no other record kept.  In order to comply with the pharmaceutical code of conduct the sponsors need to show this transparency and would not be able to provide support if they were unable log the names of attendees at a meeting supported by the industry.”
