November 22, 2020 Message - The Three Hardest Things for Christians To Do: “Trusting"
Scripture: Psalm 121
9am Traditional Service in the Sanctuary
11am Contemporary Service in the FLC
Online service available starting at 9am:
Join us this Sunday at https://sandiapres.online.church/ on your computer, tablet, or smartphone for an interactive and communal online worship experience. Our "online church" offers a live chat that is more sophisticated than what is on YouTube. Welcome each other, share insights and questions, and encourage each other in real time. Share prayer requests and receive prayer in a private one-on-one chat. We watch the same worship service videos from our YouTube channel. Our online church is open from 8:50-10:00 AM each Sunday with the worship service video starting at 9 AM. If you prefer to watch our worship service videos directly on our YouTube channel, you can continue to do that at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM5-8nrgX7f5W6Qw3Vbm4wA.
If you did not receive the Worship Orders that accompany the services by email, they can always be found on the homepage of our website.

MISSION FOR MAJI: SPC has approved a fund campaign to join several other congregations in purchasing a solar energy plant that will supply the hospital in Maji, Ethiopia with enough power to operate its medical equipment and serve its community. We have already raised nearly $16,000 toward our goal of $25,000! We also have an anonymous donor who will match up to $7500 in additional donations. Our campaign is active now through the Advent season, ending on December 20. If you wish to send a donation to SPC for the Maji Project, you have several options. You may write a check to SPC, and put "Maji project" on the memo line. You may also use the donation tab on SPC's website, www.sandiapres.org - be sure to select "Maji Development" at the fund selection window. If you need more information, send an email to email@example.com. Thank you for your prayers and your support of God’s work for our brethren in Maji!
VIRTUAL ANGEL TREE: Our Virtual Angel Tree program is available through November 29th! BOOK OF PRAYERS by Pastor Pooley: Pastor Matt has printed a bound book of some of his “pastoral prayers” from Sunday morning worship. Copies are now available and can be picked up at the front desk. If you’re not able to safely come by to pick up a copy, contact our front office and we will arrange a way to get you a copy. Matt does not want to charge for them - they are a gift. But if you were to give a few dollars in exchange for your copy, it would go toward funding a future printing for others to receive copies. Donations should be made directly to Matt Pooley not SPC.
PRESCHOOL SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS: Sandia Presbyterian Preschool is seeking substitute teachers to work on an as needed basis in our daily preschool Tuesday-Fridays, from 9:00 am -1:30 pm. In this class, we will examine the background of first-century Jewish messianic expectations and the centrality of the kingdom of God to Jesus' message. We will also look at the significance of the coming of the Messiah from the perspectives of each of the four Gospels looking specifically at how Jesus' birth fulfilled Old Testament Scriptures. Taught by Rev. Jeff Pearson at 10:15–11:15 AM on Sundays, November 22–December 20. This will be a hybrid class offered both in-person in Room 214 and on Zoom.

WEDNESDAY WOMEN WINTER STUDY: The Wednesday Women Bible Study group will begin a new study January 13, and all women are invited to join us!! We will meet 2nd and 4th Wednesday evenings, 6:30pm, on Zoom, to discuss The Christ of the Empty Tomb, by James M. Boice. Boice was a well-known pastor and writer on the authority of Scripture. In the book, he shows how fact and faith work together for a real spiritual joy of Easter. We need to accept both the fact that Jesus’ death was historically real and accept by faith that He was resurrected. In this book, Boice helps us understand the interplay of the two stories. We will order books (about $12) on November 30th, so please sign up before then to be part of the group order. We’ll even deliver to your door! To join us and to order the book, please contact Karen Shackleford at 796-0292 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
