CALLING ALL HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS!! SPC’s Faith Community Nurses Ministry would like to share our vision of how we might be of more service to our church community. Our vision is to develop a more comprehensive area of service called Health Ministries. So, we are inviting physical therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, dieticians, nurses, nurse assistants, physicians or any others in this field, to meet and discuss how we might develop this program. Our vision includes opportunities for health-related classes, senior exercise programs, or a health fair in our gym. There are plenty of examples of Health Ministries to draw from both locally and throughout the nation so let’s be a church that provides that for OUR congregation. If this interests you, call or email Betsy Everett at 228-5467 or

COMING SOON - 1 THESSALONIANS: In the opening to Paul’s first letter to the Thessalonians, he wrote “You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for in spite of persecution you received the word with joy inspired by the Holy Spirit, so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia.” What does it mean to become an imitator of the Lord and how do we do it? How do we receive the word with joy in the midst of hardship? How do we do this in a way to become examples to those around us? We will explore these themes and more in an 8-week exploration of the book of I Thessalonians. This class is intended to focus discussion regarding how we can apply Paul’s encouragement to his congregation in our current circumstances. Taught by Travis Bauer at 10:30–11:30 AM on Sundays, September 27 – November 15, on Zoom.

GOD AND THE PANDEMIC: In times of disaster or crisis, Christians have been notoriously prone to jumping to conclusions about the nature and character of God, what he might be doing or saying in all this, and who is at fault for these great and terrible events. Embrace a different approach. In his book God and the Pandemic, biblical scholar N. T. Wright will guide you in how to "keep our reactions within a biblical limit" and to read the events in the world through the light of Jesus and the early Christians. God and the Pandemic will help you to understand how we are to talk about God, how we are to live in the present pandemic, how we recover from it, and what is the church’s calling in the midst of it all. This class is a discussion of this book utilizing the accompanying study guide. Taught by Rev. Jeff Pearson at 10:30–11:30 AM on Sundays, July 19–September 20 on Zoom. Download weekly handouts here:!AtKi5j-3TPltg5IuZoN2MuOtXTCpsw?e=WzCltM. If you would like to watch the recordings of the class sessions, please email Jeff at for the link and password.
