Dear Members and Friends of SPC,

Good news!  We will be meeting again for in-person worship!!

For more details, please see the SPC reopening plan which has been posted on our website and can also be accessed using the link below. There is a lot to consider when reopening the church and most of your questions are probably addressed in that plan.

The latest guidance from the Governor and the State of New Mexico (as of May 15, 2020) is that places of worship can open to 25% of building capacity.  This means some churches in New Mexico will be meeting this Sunday for worship.  Our Session has approved the recommendations of a re-opening task force with a rescheduled reopening for May 31.

On Sunday, May 31 we will meet for traditional worship in the sanctuary at 9am.  We will follow the 25% guidelines which means we can host a total of 150 in the sanctuary with overflow in the fellowship hall of 20 people.  We will follow all the mandated safe distancing guidelines.

On Sunday, May 31, we will have contemporary worship in the Family Life Center (gym) at 11am.  The 25% guideline means we can include 175 people in the gym.  Again, we will follow all the mandated safe distancing guidelines.

If these venues exceed capacity we will be forced to turn people away.  However, we will transmit the services again on FM radio.  This was very successful during our Easter Sunday drive in service.

Finally, let me say this, and it is very important.  If you are a person whose age or underlying health makes you vulnerable, we strongly recommend you stay home and worship with us online.  If you are feeling sick or fear you may have been exposed to the virus, we also ask you to stay home.  If you are just uncomfortable for any reason, we ask you to stay home.  We will continue online worship services because many people are not ready or able to be presence of other people.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns I can address.  I can’t wait to see you all again!

🤩😎🤓😍 Inviting 3rd-5th Graders to Join Us for our VIRTUAL SUMMER SMALL GROUPS Sundays beginning May 31st from 2:45-4pm, hosted by Jennie Jacobson, our Director of Children’s Ministries. We will kick-off our summer with a fun series called “My Big Kid Brother” where we will screen share and watch a 10 minute video, then break into small groups to discuss and share highs & lows, and we’ll end back together for a group game.  “My Big Kid Brother” is a series where we’ll discover how we can put laziness aside and BE RESONSIBLE and MATURE as we step up to what God has put in front of us.  Invite your friends to join us on Zoom! Email Jennie Jacobson at jenniej@sandiapres.org for the link to join the meeting!

MOM’S CONNECTION is meeting online via Zoom weekly on Wednesday for Bible Study and Fellowship. For the link to join the meeting, email Diana Pooley at thenewpooleys@gmail.com.

VBS IS ON HOLD - Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, VBS registration is currently on hold. We continue to assess current risks under the guidelines of the CDC. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time. While the pandemic has taken most of us by surprise, it did not surprise our God! Be comforted and encouraged in the knowledge that He works all things together for our good and His glory (Romans 8:28; Ephesians 1:11). We are prepared to maximize our ministry effectiveness in whatever capacities and opportunities God sends our way and we continue to pray for your health and safety! We believe VBS is more than just an annual event on our church calendar. It is an amazing time for children and youth from our church and our community to connect with each other and with the Bible. We will have a Children’s Ministry Team meeting via Zoom and will make a decision by July 1st concerning our VBS, so stay tuned!
