See that little blue bell in the picture?

That's one of 150 bells we rang at Ekone a week ago, at the moment that we crossed the finish line for the $2 million Saddle Up! capital campaign that was launched at the Barbed Wire Ball five years ago.
The weather was perfect.  The crowd was joyous at being together.  The food was served in the gorgeous new kitchen.  The beergarden was packed.  The games were fun and the ponies were gentle.  The music was beautiful.
And the auction was extraordinary; the crowd gleefully bid our 17 items sky high.  We frantically did math throughout the auction and paddle raise, and as paddles were going up at the $500 level we crossed the magical $2 million line.
Stopped everything.  Passed out rainbow colored bells.  Rang them together for a long time.  Cried and laughed and soaked in what we've accomplished together.  Celebrated the strong future of Ekone Ranch and the good work that happens on this land.
Oh and we ate lunch in the new Yummy Tummy Cafe, too!  And blessed the building with a beautiful ribbon-tying ceremony, and gave tours, and placed handprints on banners to demonstrate the many, many hands that lifted these structures.
We raised about $100,000 at the Ball, including a $40,000 matching gift.  This closes out fundraising for the Saddle Up campaign and gives us a toehold on the work that comes next.

Thank you for being a part of this circle, from near and far.  If you missed the party, we can't wait to show off the buildings next time you're out.  We still have a bell here for you to ring.

With love and overflowing gratitude,
from the home crew at Ekone Ranch.
