Dear Reader,

A few months have passed since the launch of the H2020 COMPOSITION project and we are proud to present the first results of our work. We are developing a digital ecosystem that will help factories optimise internal production processes and external collaboration with suppliers.

With the need to react on ever changing market demands, the aim of our research and innovation project is to develop tools and solutions that combine knowledge and data for the purpose of either optimising production processes or facilitating collaboration between customers and suppliers, specifically in the manufacturing domain.

In our first newsletter, we would like to share with you the use cases that have been selected to demonstrate the tools under development. We are also reporting from some the project’s participation in the Technology Forum exhibition at Thessaloniki, Greece and the IoT Innovation Days at Sankt Augustin, Germany. Moreover, we are pleased to announce the publication of our first results to IEEE Computer Society Signature Conference on Computers, Software and Applications and to the Industrial Conference on Data Mining (ICDM).

COMPOSITION gave presentations on Industry 4.0, use cases, blockchain and energy harvesting at the IoT Innovation and Networking Days, organised by Fraunhofer FIT.

Two publications have been submitted on automatically detecting physical defects in the production and effectively connecting value chains based on Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and IoT.
