The seed library is open and two tax clinics are planned so it must be spring! Vicky Downes and her wonderful Communities in Bloom volunteers are planning the vegetable garden and the three wonderful volunteers taking care of our flower gardens (thank you Kathy, Fran and Nikki) will be planting mainly native species sourced from the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority this season. We truly appreciate all the great work our garden volunteers do to make the library look beautiful and to supply those in need with fresh produce.
We are now accepting book and DVD donations for our spring fundraiser. Book sales are important fundraisers for the library so we appreciate your donations for the sale and your purchases at the sale which starts April 8. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to enhance our collections, programs and services.
Thank you to everyone who applied to serve on the 2023-2027 library board. The town received twenty-three outstanding applications and town council had the difficult task of appointing eight members. This term we have one town council representative, Adriana Vizzari, two returning members, Robin Foster and Daryl Novak and six new members; Ilze Andzans, Graham Bailey, Benoit Beausoleil, Katie Desharnais, Susan Elliott and Wayne Scott. I look forward to our first meeting on April 19 and to working with these talented and community-minded volunteers over the next four years.
Please keep reading for more details about our April programs and for all the latest titles arriving this month.
