It’s beginning to look a lot like the good old days at the library. We’ve re-started inter-library loan, scheduled more in-person programs, suspended curbside pickup and cleaned up the garden. Thank you to volunteers Kathy Goulding and Frances Sorrenti for sharing their time and gardening expertise. Frances and Kathy did a great job this past Friday pruning, weeding and cleaning up the back flower garden. Thanks also to Vicky Downes and her Communities in Bloom volunteers for working in our community vegetable garden. Vicky and her team have added gutter gardens and a vertical garden this year and I encourage you to take a look at their great work.
Although curbside pickup has ended, we continue to offer contactless pickup via our holds shelf and self checkout. With the expansion of the Libraries in Niagara Cooperative (LiNC), the need to re-start provincial inter-library loans wasn’t urgent but we now have enough staff to begin offering this service again. If we can’t find a title through the LiNC network, we’ll look farther afield and get it for you from another Ontario library.
LiNC now includes ten of the twelve public library systems in the Niagara Region. LiNC’s mission is to provide a cohesive framework for Niagara Region libraries to collaborate, optimize services, expand partnerships and engage users across our diverse communities. I really enjoying meeting with my regional counterparts monthly to discuss library service in our communities and develop new ways to cooperate. Libraries are all about sharing and LiNC is truly a manifestation of our sharing spirit.
Read on for details about the programs and new titles we’re sharing with you this month.
