Niagara-on-the-Lake Public Library Newsletter

February 2022

From Cathy's Desk
We’re back to in-person service today!  A few weeks ago, when the province announced public health restrictions would ease January 31, library staff immediately began planning for the safe reopening of the library.  We’re now open Tuesday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Fridays 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Saturday openings are planned for March when in-person programs also resume and curbside pickup is still being offered.

We also plan to gradually increase opening hours this year including Sunday and Monday openings.  The open hours increase depends on several factors including budget approval which will allow us to hire and train more frontline staff because, as in other sectors, the pandemic has reduced library staffing levels.  All our plans ultimately depend on the course of the pandemic and public health directives but we’re seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and look forward to seeing you back in the library.

February is Black History Month and you can research Niagara-on-the-Lake’s rich Black history in our heritage portal: https://vitacollections.ca/notlheritage/search and read about the Black experience in books from our fiction and nonfiction collection: https://notl.niagaraevergreen.ca/eg/opac/results?query=black+history.

We thank you again for your patience as we recalibrate library service.  Keep reading for details about upcoming virtual programs and February’s latest titles.
