Happy Thursday! As a reminder, your mandatory small group advising meeting will take place tomorrow with your Faculty and Student Adviser. You can now find the name of your Faculty Adviser (also known as your Lower Division Adviser) in WIN, under Virtual Campus, then View Your General Student Information.

*You should plan to meet with your adviser at the time published below (based on your adviser’s last name), unless a change is communicated by your Faculty Adviser.

Important Orientation Reminders: 

  • New Deac 101 on Canvas:  You are expected to complete Module 1: New to the Forest by Friday, September 4th.  Please visit canvas.wfu.edu and log in with your student credentials.  For more details about New Deac 101, please review the following message in full.  Module III: Exploring the Forest, will launch tomorrow and you will have the opportunity to explore all that Wake Forest has to offer from academic programs to clubs and organizations.

  • Departmental Open Houses (Monday, August 24th at 2p.m. to 5p.m.): Meet faculty and upper-class students in informal virtual or in-person settings at any time during this three-hour period. Please take a moment to fill out the following interest form to ensure that you receive invitations to the department of your choice.  

Looking for Ways to Connect? Don’t forget to download the Corq app for Wake the Forest event information and touchless check-in. Available at the Apple Store and Google Play. Once you download the app and select Wake Forest as your campus, sign in with your WFU gmail account to view and register for student-only events.

  • Group Fitness schedule available all during Move-in. Our schedule and registration can be found here

  • Recreation G.O. presented by Campus Recreation, Hearn Plaza
    Campus Recreation moves outside! Our Recreation G.O. @ Hearn Plaza will feature a variety of lawn games from badminton, kanjam, bottle bash, cornhole, and others!  Visit campusrec.wfu.edu to find our weekly schedule.

  • Call 2 Conversation - Program for Leadership and Character, Upper Davis Field Tent. Call to Conversation is a movement to start more authentic conversation among the campus community. A topic and prompt is shared and a moderator sets the stage so participants feel comfortable sharing their stories.  To register, click here.

  • Community Crafternoon - Office of Civic and Community Engagement, Collins Hall Tent. Join the Office of Civic & Community Engagement (OCCE) for the Community Crafternoon! Learn about ways to get involved in the local Winston-Salem community and  join us for tie-dye, music, and giveaways! All materials will be provided. Due to CDC guidelines, this event will have distancing requirements; please register for a 30-minute block. To register,  for 3 pm click here. To register for 4 pm click here.

  • Welcome Back Celebration - Intercultural Center, Intercultural Center Lounge. Join the Intercultural Center Staff for a first look at the IC. We will have snacks, giveaways, and an opportunity to tour the space, as well as meet the staff.

  • Hiking event with Outdoor Pursuits, WF Wellbeing Center
    Please visit deaconrec.wfu.edu for sign-up information.  Join our OP staff for a trip to a nearby Hiking trail.

  • Young Stars: Meet the Deacs Crushing Cool Careers - Office of Personal and Career Development, Virtual How did Wake's career stars make their way from the Quad to places like Facebook, The Tonight Show, Google, the Hill, L'Oreal or Michael Kors? Interested in running social media or public relations in New York? Want to work in investment banking or government? Think you might want to work for the non-profit changing the world? Find out how for yourself! You have an unusual, very Wake Forest opportunity. More than a panel, you will have the unique opportunity to meet and have a small group chat with the Deacs who are opening doors in some of the hottest career spaces.   • Playfair Online/Meet the Student Advisors!  Virtual  Playfair Online is a high-spirited, high-energy event that allows our newest Demon Deacons to safely engage and laugh with one another as a large group, as well as in many quick-changing breakout rooms. Students will feel a part of an exciting new campus community. Members of Wake Forest University’s Student Adviser program will also be part of Playfair! Your student adviser is a current student who is trained to provide academic guidance and mentorship and will work with your lower-division adviser. Both will be available to assist you with your transition to Wake Forest. It’s team building, it’s comedy, and it’s lots of fun! To register, click here.

  • Deacon Olympics: Various locations on Campus. Join Campus Recreation as we lead you through a variety of activities to get you moving and engaging with other new Deacs!  We will provide this program during 4 different nights to accommodate your schedule.  Registration begins August 13deaconrec.wfu.edu
