What can I work on in this month?

Every month, we invite you to explore different aspects of Yogi Bhajan’s teachings as a teacher or as a student. For that, we use the Aquarian Numerology, based on the spiritual 10 Bodies, the quality and facets of numbers according to the teachings of Yogi Bhajan. Numbers represent a fascinating window to look at our consciousness, to recognize the synchronicity in our lives, and bring a deeper understanding of the interconnected reality we live in.

The First Roots

January might have been an opportunity to focus on what is essential. It was an opportunity to make priorities and get rid of the unnecessary. Determination and consistency were required in order to keep following your inner compass.

February is the first limb of the year like the name of the second Guru, Angad (Ad = primal unit, Ang = extension or limb). The first limb of the seed (1) is the roots. There is no outward sign of manifestation yet (3), but the roots are expanding their hold. They grow downward exploring the darkness of the earth (unconscious) looking for water (a new source of nourishment, a cleansing). The fact of following your inner compass and your needs triggers your subconscious patterns and habits. It brings back to the surface memories of unfinished stories, old wounds and unpleasant experiences. Without self-awareness and a stable nervous system, we might become a victim of this pressure and easily fall into our reactive self. At this time we regret having followed our original impulse to follow our soul. “It was easier before!”


February 2019 (2+2+0+1+9 = 14 = 5) is an opportunity to strengthen our loyalty toward our deeper self and toward what nourishes this relationship. Our nervous system (5) plays a major role in our capacity to face the challenges of being faithful to ourselves (expanding our roots!). If our nervous system is too weak, we will easily react to the pressure of these challenges. The Negative Mind (second spiritual body) will alert us of a danger, not because the danger is real but because there is uncertainty. It will connect with unpleasant old memories when we attempt to be true to ourselves and be supported by the positive mind, which will take the bait, and then you fall into a sequence of reactions and consequences! A weak nervous system cannot help us to hold that first reaction of our mind and to realize that we have a choice. It cannot allow us to embrace the release of old pains (connected to our past self-betrayal), which will automatically come up if we persist in the effort of being ourselves!

The Time with Ourselves

Instead of experiencing a detachment from the weight of the past and a sense of new flow like after a cleansing, we might experience stressful moments, agitation, nervousness and even a sense of separation with ourselves, with our old self which seems the only reality or the only possible “me”. We might find ways to numb ourselves to ignore our inner process, like taking refuge in computer games or social media.

Computer games or social media gives us as well the illusion to “spend time with ourselves” because we are in our own bubble. Unfortunately, nourishing our deeper self implies to feel the life within, to be connected to our body, feelings and sensations. It is not a mental space, like the realm of our phone or computer. Bringing the attention inward, we experience our life and meaning from the feelings and sensations of our body and not simply from our fantasies and projections. Instead of being the spectator of our lives, we can become a player, awakening our capacity of self-knowledge and self-healing.

There are so many pressures on this life, but still this life is to be lived and the only way to live that life is to let it flow, let it be”.

Breath as Water

February 2019 is an invitation to nourish our primal intention by expanding our roots within and to face and hold the pressure that it brings up. Our breath is a crucial tool to nourish these roots. The prana is like the water for the plant. Our nervous system is the foundation of our capacity to keep our vitality and hold the pressure of letting go and letting flow.

“The external form of the earth is made of dust, but internally, it consists of light. The external appearance is at war with the internal reality – as if the shell were at war with the pearl it contains. The external says: “I am this and no more.” The internal says, “Look closely, and you will find me.” The external says, “The inner reality is an illusion.” The internal says, “Wait and see. The watcher is always above the mind. The watcher is never part of the mind. The mind is just like a TV screen on which thoughts, dreams, imaginations, projections, desires, and a thousand and one things go on passing. The watcher is not on the screen, he is sitting in the movie hall. But the problem arises when the watcher becomes identified with something on the movie screen.

You must have seen yourself sometimes crying, sometimes laughing, sometimes becoming sad… and you know perfectly well that there is nothing on the screen. It is empty, and all that you are seeing is only a projection, just a film being projected through light.

I have heard that when for the first time the silent movies came into existence, the first show happened in London, and a man watched the movie in the matinee showing. Everybody left, but he remained.

The manager came to him and said, “The show is over.”

He said, “I want to see the second show also.”

The manager said, “What is the point? You have seen it.”

He said, “It is none of your business. This is the money for the ticket. I am not going to leave.”

He saw the second show, and the manager was thinking, “What happens after the second show?” He came back again; the crowd had gone, but the man was still there, because there was still a third show. The manager said, “Do you want to see the third show also?” He said, “Yes. This is the money.”

The manager said, “But you have seen it twice!”
He said, “You don’t understand a thing. There is a scene in which a beautiful woman is undressing. She is just about to become nude and jump into a beautiful lake to swim. At that very moment a train passes by, and that train becomes a curtain, and when the train has gone, the woman is already in the water.”

The manager said, “But I still don’t understand the point.”

The man said, “The point is, the train is going to be late sometime!”

Now the projected film has taken on a reality in his mind. He has become identified; it is no longer a film, he is part of it. He is not waiting, he is not watching; he is participating.

Diet suggestion: Inform your water

Before you go to bed, fill in a glass of water. Identify what is the need which is important for you at that moment “I would like to feel safe”, “I would like to be comforted”, “I would like to feel loved”. Write on a small piece of paper the word connected to that feeling/need like SAFETY, COMFORT, LOVE, … and paste it on the glass of water. When you get up the next morning, drink the glass of water as the first thing in the morning. Repeat the experience for the whole month (28 days).

Joke – Party in Alaska

Sam has been in business for 25 years and is finally sick of the stress.

He quits his job and buys 50 acres in Alaska as far from humanity as possible. He sees the postman once a week and gets groceries once a month. Otherwise, it’s total peace and quiet. After six months or so of almost total isolation, someone knocks on his door. He opens it and there’s a big, bearded man standing there.

“Name’s Lars… Your neighbour from forty miles away… Having a birthday party Friday… Thought you might like to come. About 5…”

“Great,” says Sam, “after six months out here I’m ready to meet some local folks. Thank you.” As Lars is leaving, he stops and turns. “Gotta warn you…There’s gonna be some drinkin’.”

“Not a problem… after 25 years in business, I can drink with the best of 'em.”

Again, as he starts to leave, Lars stops in his tracks. “More’n’ likely gonna be some fightin’ too.” Sam says, “Well, I get along with people. I’ll be there. Thanks again.”

Once again Lars turns from the door. “I’ve seen some wild sex at these parties, too.”

“Now that’s really not a problem,” says Sam. “I’ve been all alone for six months! I’ll definitely be there. By the way, what should I bring?” Lars stops in the door again and says, “Whatever you want, just gonna be the two of us.”

“The Art of Listening, Yoga of 2019"

A contribution to the history of yoga by Fateh Singh, AAA Professional Trainer in France:

"Suniai sidh pir sur nath suniai dharat daval akash"
Eleventh Pauri of Jaapji, Guru Nanak .

In those verses, Nanak describes the Yoga of listening.
In the Jaap Ji Guru Nanak describes through words an experience of merging that is completely beyond our rational understanding.
In this poem, the technology of Shabad Guru unfolds. The Shabad Guru as the sound itself with the combination and permutation of words carries the fragrance of spiritual realization.
The word Suniai is very close to "shunya", which means " Zero" in Sanskrit. So, we could say that to listen is to Zero oneself, a definition of humility. The invitation of Nanak is to recognize our pride, the fantasy of our mind that pretends to know everything.
This capacity of listening is a very feminine quality that implies an openness to receiving. Allowing emptiness, non-existence. How could we fill a cup that is already full?

Healing Sound Training: The Gong and Tibetan Singing Bowls. Nirmal Singh went to China at the AiJue Center in January for the third time to teach how to use the gong and the Tibetan Singing Bowls for healing.
Jodha Kaur, TNT from Germany, and Professional Trainer, went to Xiamen for the first time to teach Level 1. Here her experience:

“Firstly, I would like to deeply thank the organisation team, Arti Kaur, Dalmeet Kaur and Har Dayal Kaur, who put their heart and soul into providing everything that was needed for the training. 

What really touched me was the openness and awareness of the Chinese students. They picked things up incredibly quick and it was apparent that they were eager to learn and grow and develop as a person. No matter how small and exact the feedback was, they were able to integrate it and to keep it up. I could tell that some of them were particularly sensitive. I was very impressed by the deeply relaxed and respectful way they were communicating and treating each other. We laughed a lot. In the end, I was invited to a tea ceremony by the owner of the house. This was a very special experience for me. I had a very fulfilling time in Xiamen and I am truly grateful for the experience that I got to make there.

"Kundalini Yoga transformed our lives" - by Charan Kamal Kaur, 29 years old, and Govind Bhajan Singh, 25 years old - France

“We came across Kundalini Yoga almost by accident, more than three years from now. Before
that we were used to alternate between states of euphory and emptiness, joy and depression.

Then we met Kundalini Yoga: the encounter was powerful, transforming. We were very upset when we had to leave after our first class, we were curious to learn more about it. During our first French
Festival we discovered Sadhana and were very touched by the group energy.

During this
gathering we meet Fateh Singh, with whom we felt a deep connection straight away. We discovered the Ajai Alai spirit and thanks to him, registered for Level 1 in France. The Teachings appeared even richer to us and the teachers knew how to make them vivid and deeply rooted them in everyday life.

After one year of intense training, getting our diploma gives us the opportunity to open up two Kundalini Yoga classes in our small mountain village in France. Our students show us new ways to grow and by adapting ourselves to the role of the Aquarian Teacher, we feel ourselves growing in consciousness day by day. We are learning to create a neutral and welcoming space, in which the students can experiment and discover their true selves.

Today, we feel extremely grateful to be in touch daily with the Teachings. They drive us and make us create what we want to see right where we already are, instead of going elsewhere seeking answers from outside and illusory happiness. Everything is already there, within us, and all we have to do is manifest it in our daily lives, here and now.

Next step: the beginning of Level 2 in Turkey, to keep up with the Ajai Alai Awakening adventure!”


Level 1 Training, last weekend - by Sat Sarbat Kaur

“I was in Switzerland for the last weekend of the Level 1 Teacher Training. It was a joy to see the students again, whom I had met in Austria for the intensive week last June. The weekend took place in a yoga room in the middle of the city. I felt resistance to teach in an environment with cars instead of trees sorrounding us. However, soon enough, the atmosphere became so cosy and positive that I forgot where I was. It is like we established our own little world of health and wealth amidst whatever was outside. The main topic of the weekend turned out to be how to get rid of preconceptions and instead favour the true nature of each of us, fostering acceptance and tolerance.
We also had lots of laughters and a really great time!

I want to thank the students and Vichar Singh, the organizer of Amrit Yoga, for their efforts and their smiles.”
