What keeps you involved with us?
Northwest Hope and Healing provides more than just monetary benefit to those in need. It provides a sense of hope and gives a level of determination to people who are experiencing pain. My family has a history of breast cancer and I am very aware that not everyone is as lucky to have a support system like they may have. No one can know what to expect when going through treatment - whether it’s the system, challenges your body throws at you or response fo treatment and recovery. It’s comforting to know that this organization is prepared to help people, no matter the scenario, with many phases in this journey.
What are you most excited about for the future of NWHH?
I would say I am most excited about having Northwest Hope and Healing continue to engage and create within the community. Whether it be through the network of all of the fantastic board members or volunteers and friends throughout the area, I think northwest hope and healing has penetrated the hearts of many and will be involved with many local locations that want to participate in supporting the cause.
What would you tell someone about getting involved in volunteering with us?
What I tell people about getting involved with Northwest Hope and Healing is that they have the ability to have immediate impact on those suffering with breast and cervical cancer. That they can learn about what’s beneficial to people in recovery beyond some of the go to items we send for care. A lot of times people feel helpless to those in this scenario and Northwest Hope and Healing gives a direct connection to people who need it most. I’ll also tell them to get involved with the annual auctions and get direct testimonials from survivors! It’s so powerful.
Anything else you would like to share?
I am a Seattle native, proudly from a family of Lebanese immigrants. Firmly invested in my career, my family, my circle of chosen family and little French fur baby. I met Karyn from NWHH through practicing yoga with a community of women committed to fitness- we center our friendship on movement and gratitude.
