Check out our Timeline Below

We have now had two weeks that we have been allowed to return in-person to our language school — instead of online. We praise God for this blessing! Ashley and I have both moved on to our next levels of French and our kids are back in school.

We will be done with classes later in July and Lord willing, we plan to fly back to the States (Arizona) on August 5th. Our Stateside visit is primarily so we can finalize everything for Madagascar. We will need to prepare a shipping container, apply for a Malagasy visa through the consulate in Washington D.C., schedule doctors’ visits, and see family before we move to Madagascar.  We will likely be Stateside for approximately 2 months and leave for Madagascar sometime in October.
This will not be a normal home assignment where our main purpose will be to rest and report back to churches, but will instead be somewhat hectic as we wrap everything up needed for life and ministry in Africa. In addition, we are looking forward to time together with our families before we are away again for a long time. Please pray for our visa process to go well (and that we can successfully piece together the required documentation). Also, please pray for all of the other logistics such as the container arrangements. We need much wisdom from the Lord for all that’s ahead of us.

Finally, I want to say "thank you" to you all once again. You have held the rope for us in prayer, love, and support during this year of intense language training in France and we are so grateful to the Lord for you. You have truly become "fellow workers with the truth" by your care for us (3 John 1:7–8).
Gloire à Dieu,

Progressing in our French

Masks are mandatory in the hallways of our language school, but not inside our classrooms. We're grateful that we don't have to speak French all day with a mask.

Family News

With the lock-down partially lifted, we are able to enjoy the beauty of spring in France. After a long week of study, we all love to get outdoors to hike or enjoy the lakes here.

A Note from Ashley

"Your lovingkindness , O LORD, extends to the heavens, Your faithfulness reaches to the skies." Psalm 36:5

It has been a joy to be able to return to on-campus learning with my French professor and classmates. After a few months of lock-down, I appreciate the privilege to be here and learn more than ever. I am also thankful to enjoy a spring season in France which has been breathtaking. The Lord has been so kind and gracious.
As we have begun praying, planning, and talking more about our next phase and transition to Madagascar I am fighting the temptation to fear and to worry. I see how quickly I forget God's faithfulness and provision as I approach the next corner. I have been reading through the Old Testament for my devotion time and have seen the tendency of the Israelites to have the same forgetfulness. I read of God's anger at their unbelief and untrusting hearts. He has proved Himself faithful, trustworthy, and powerful and yet we turn away in fear because the future seems scary. I am so thankful for God's truth in His Word that daily encourages my heart and rebukes my lack trust in Him (Deut 1:25-36).
My desire is to finish my language studies here strong for God's glory, to meditate on the blessings the Lord has given us, and to look ahead to the future with hope and anticipation about what the Lord will do. Thank you for your faithful prayers on our behalf, your notes of encouragement, and your financial gifts that allow us be here. May God receive glory from our lives.

In His love,
