Wow!

What a bittersweet month for me. This was the very last year for me to attend the Mormon Miracle Pageant which has been showing for 52 years because the LDS church is shutting it down. This was my seventh year in a row to attend.

While I sat out in the street I had people walk by and say it was not true. Most of those individuals would not say why though and walk away. While I had many conversations at the pageant; my favorite was with a man named Sam. He came right up to me and said he was LDS and he agreed with my sign. We read Moroni 10:32 which says, “Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in no wise deny the power of God.”

Sam told me that nobody can cleanse themselves of all ungodliness. The message then took a big tangent. Sam told me that he leads LDS youth, but he is having a lot of doubts about the LDS Church. The thing that was bothering him was the Gospel Topic Essays the LDS Church has been putting out since 2013. The essays are supposed to clarify LDS Church history and teachings, but it leaves many LDS confused and questioning the truthfulness of the LDS Church. He also told me that if he was a faithful LDS member; he would discourage the LDS youth kids to talk with me. Sam is caught between a rock and a hard place living in Utah. If he expresses his doubts; he could lose his job and family. I got his contact information and we are staying in touch. Please pray for Sam’s situation and his salvation.

The next conversation that stuck out to me was with Larry. He was not LDS. Larry believed in the Noradic gods. I come all the way to talk with Mormons, but I talked with Larry for one of those nights. His belief systems were new to me. I told Larry what I believe to be true. I went over the gospel by saying that everybody has fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). I explained to him since we are fallen, there is a need for a Savior to redeem us from our sins and wrong doings. He said that is great, but Larry insisted he could be a Savior himself by giving up his life in a warrior’s battle for his family and friends. I told him that while it is great to want to sacrifice for his friends and family’s behalf in order to live with God there is no need because Jesus already sacrificed His life once for all time (Heb. 9:28; 10:10,14). Please pray that Larry will see that while it is great to want to sacrifice one’s life to be their Savior; he will see that Jesus already did it for him, his friends, and family.

I am still having my weekly studies with members of the Baha’i faith. We are still going through Some Answered Questions . Our discussion has been over Buddha being a manifestation of God. The Baha’i faith teaches that Buddha was a messenger of God for his time period, while I find this ironic because Buddhism is an atheistic belief system. The Baha’i claim is that Buddha did teach that God exists, but there is just no record of it. The Baha’i members I talk to see this dilemma. Please specifically pray for Kevin to see that Jesus is the true messiah of God while Buddha, the Bab, and Baha’u’llah are not messengers of God. Please pray he will leave these false teachers behind and just believe in Jesus.
