Trevor is Traveling:
I will be traveling to the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Toronto October 31st-November 10th, 2018, with Haven Ministries. This will be my second time to attend this event which will host over 10,000 persons of faith from 80 nations and over 200 unique faith spiritual backgrounds. September Ministry Updates:
I have been prompted in my heart to start making relationships now with those who will be attending this life changing event in Toronto. When I meet them again in Toronto I will already have a better understanding of who they are and what they believe.
Bahá'í World Faith (BWF): I contacted K.R., whose title is Cluster Seeker Response Coordinator for this faith. We met at a local restaurant and he told me that he is a Vietnam veteran. He grew up as an Evangelical Christian. While he was stationed in Carolina, he met a member of the BWF. He liked what this man had to say about the BWF and his passion for what he deemed to be truthful. K.R. forgot about the faith for several years and even forgot the name of the religion; however several years later he was stationed in Hawaii, and he saw that same man again! They decided to go to the BWF’s house of worship for several hours and he converted on the spot. He loves the fact that I am going to Toronto to witness. He has provided me the contact information of two individuals who I will meet in person in Toronto. V.D. is a member of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá'ís. The other person, E.P., works at the Bahá'í House of Worship in Wilmette, IL. If you would like more information on BWF click here: BWF.
Community of Christ (COC): Some of my readers may be unaware that there are many denominations of Mormonism. After Joseph Smith’s death in 1844, the Latter Day Saints (LDS) members were at a loss of what to do next. Many people came forward saying that they were the rightful successors. The mainline Mormon Church followed Brigham Young while some of the others started to follow various leaders with one being Joseph Smith Jr.’s son, Joseph Smith III. The name of their church is called The Community of Christ. They went by the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (RLDS) until they changed their name in 2001 to Community of Christ. I met R.L.at the Parliament of World Religions of the COC in 2015 in Salt Lake City. We have stayed in contact since then. She will not be attending this year, but she put me in contact with J.H. who is considered a pastor in their church in Toronto. This will be a bit of a challenge for me because I am much more familiar with LDS beliefs. I am not sure how our conversations may look, but I am guessing part of our conversation will be about the differences between the LDS and COC denominations. For more information on COC Click Here.
Trevor Wolfe, Your Friend and Brother in Christ
P.S. Correction from my August Newsletter: I accidentally made the theological error of using the word “deities” which implies polytheism. That was not my intent. I was just trying to show that Jesus and the Father are Deity and are distinct from one another. Christians believe Jesus is God the Son. He, the Father and the Holy Spirit are the three ‘persons’ that constitute the one and only God. As God, Jesus has authority to forgive sins. I DO believe in the Trinity. Sorry for any confusion that I may have caused.
