2021 ADJUDICATOR ANNOUNCEMENT

Hello, everyone! We are so thrilled with our lineup of adjudicators that we decided to announce them early this year! Enjoy!- Megan 
ALICIA BIGRAS- Contemporary Voice
Alicia Bigras, lyric soprano, is originally from Fruitvale, BC and has spent the past three years in Medicine Hat teaching at the college.  She is a very passionate about teaching music to people of all ages and instilling music appreciation in her students. Alicia is a passionate and caring teacher who establishes strong relationships with her students and works hard to help them to achieve their goals, feel successful and fulfilled and to share their gift with others.
*Contemporary Voice is a brand new, exciting discipline this year, and we are beyond thrilled to welcome Alicia's expertise! - Megan*
DYLAN WOOD- Guitar
Dylan has had a lifelong love of music.  He studied classical guitar under the tutelage of Shannon Frizzell at Red Deer College from 1989 to 1992, earning his Bachelor of Music from the University of Lethbridge in 1998.  During his studies, Dylan performed as a soloist and in a number of ensembles.
*Dylan was set to adjudicate for us in 2020, and we are so happy to have him return!- Megan*
KIRK MUSPRATT- Instrumental
Kirk Muspratt is the music director of the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra (NISO).  In addition to his work in Pittsburgh, Utah and St. Louis, Muspratt has guest conducted the orchestras of Los Angeles, Montreal, London, Korean Broadcast Symphony, Detroit, Rochester, and National Arts Center among many others. Muspratt is a native of Crowsnest Pass, Alberta, Canada. 
*After our 2020 Festival was cancelled, we are incredibly fortunate to have Kirk impart his energy and knowledge on our Instrumental students this year! - Megan*
LOUISE COSTIGAN-KERNS- Junior Piano
Louise Costigan-Kerns has performed internationally as a concert pianist, collaborative pianist and conductor. Ms. Costigan-Kerns began studying the piano at age two and a half with her mother, Beatrice Costigan, in Blairmore, Alberta. The Lethbridge Festivals were a very important part of Ms. Costigan-Kerns’ musical development, and she is forever grateful for all the support she received from the Lethbridge Festivals and the Lethbridge audiences. She is excited to be able to give back through adjudicating the festival this year.

CAMILLE ROGERS- Junior Voice
Mezzo-soprano Camille Rogers has been praised for a “tremendous stage presence” and “real flair for comedy” as well as a “gathered sound” and a “striking clarity" of coloratura.  The recipient of several major academic awards, including the Joseph-Armand Bombardier Canada Graduate Scholarship, the Canadian Graduate Scholarship at the Master’s level, and the Alberta Heritage Fund Arts Graduate Scholarship, Camille holds both a Master of Music and a Master of Arts in Musicology from the University of Toronto. Continuing to study at U of T, Camille is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts in Voice Performance.

KIM MATTICE WANAT- Musical Theatre
Kim Mattice Wanat is a performer, teacher, author and director. She has been a private voice instructor for over 25 years, with a specific focus on training young singers between the ages of 8 to 24 years of age. She specializes in training actors, and has worked at the University of Alberta for the past 26 years teaching singing in the Bachelor of Fine Arts professional acting program. 
*Kim has adjudicated for us in the past, and we are so glad that she will be able to once again share her energy and expertise with our performers! - Megan*
MAGDALENA VON ECCHER- Senior Piano
Magdalena von Eccher is recognized as one of Canada’s finest musicians.  Her performances as solo pianist, with orchestra, collaborating with singers, and in chamber music are earning the highest praise from fellow musicians and are loved by audiences. She has been on faculty at the University of Lethbridge and McGill University and now makes her home in Atlantic Canada as Assistant Professor of Piano at the University of Prince Edward Island.

ELLIOT MADORE- Senior Voice
Canadian Grammy® Award-winning baritone Elliot Madore has established himself as one of the most sought after, accomplished singers of his generation, enthralling audiences around the world with his “robust singing and take-no-prisoners acting” (The New York Times), “exquisite vocal beauty” (Opera News) and “movie star good looks” (Merkur). At just 33, Madore’s career spans the past decade, singing in major opera companies and orchestras throughout Europe, the United States and Canada. Elliot Madore is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music where he studied with Marlena Malas.
*I have seen Elliott's sensational performances in productions with the Met Opera and Against the Grain Theatre! We are beyond thrilled to have his fresh perspective for our Senior Vocalists!- Megan*
AARON AU- Strings
A native of Lethbridge, Alberta, Aaron Au was a first violinist with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra for nine seasons before appearing regularly with the orchestra as a freelance violinist and violist over the past several seasons. In addition to his musical activities, Aaron is an ordained minister and is privileged to be serving as pastor of a church plant called Avenue Church in Edmonton. As the Lethbridge Kiwanis Music Festival played a very important role in Aaron's development as a musician, he is honoured to return home to be a part of the Festival's 90th year.

JENNIFER ORR- Speech
Jennifer Orr lives and works in Calgary and has been a member of the Mount Royal University Conservatory’s Speech Arts and Drama faculty since 1986, and the coordinator of the program since 1998. Jennifer maintains an active leadership role in the discipline of speech and drama, making contributions as a teacher, administrator, adjudicator, examiner, workshop clinician, and in the area of curriculum development. Jennifer specializes in teaching children and young adults and maintains a busy teaching schedule that includes private teaching and group lessons in creative drama, speech arts, public speaking, storytelling, and speech arts theory. 
*Jennifer has joined us in past festivals, and we are very grateful to her for taking time out of her busy schedule to adjudicate our Speech performers!- Megan*
