Impressive ONE10 Triumph in January

I am so impressed with how well our students and staff continue to deliver excellence throughout the challenges we experienced in January.

ONE10 staff have been amazing at finding ways to make sure our high-quality academics continue and we deliver excellence in tough times, shortage of staff, a record number of students and staff absent, and huge challenges. I am also so proud and impressed with how ONE10 students continue with their “can do” attitude and spirit for learning. It is great to see students and staff continuing to stay positive and enjoy ONE10.

The ONE10 January Covid Surge set Records

The aggressive and highly contagious Omicron variant of Covid hit ONE10 hard as we saw the highest Covid numbers on record.  During January 2022, we set our highest threshold of reported positive Covid cases.  We had 525 cases reported, 3 times our previous high when we went to distance learning in November 2020, and 5.5 times our monthly average for the 2021-22 school year. It was a crazy and stressful month on ONE10, but we see better days ahead.

The Covid Surge hit a Plateau and ONE10 Cases are Declining Rapidly

The weekly reported positive Covid cases at ONE10 show great promise for the future.  The weekly trends from January until February 4th are as follows;  135, 165, 137, 70, 24.  We have experienced the following daily trend over the past 7 days;  18-(S,S,M), 3, 2, 1, 0.  This rapid slow down in Covid cases at ONE10 gives us hope that maybe we have seen our worst of Covid and there is hope of it becoming an endemic virus.  Time will tell but these numbers are promising.

The desire for the Covid Pandemic to be over is felt by all. It is exhausting for everyone and the  ONE10 school community feels this. Thank you to those who are being patient and supporting ONE10 as we navigate through these extraordinary times. We are getting through this together…because…WE Are ONE10!!

Reminder….Polar Plunge is Scheduled for Lake Waconia on February 12th

ISD ONE10 has had great participation in the Polar Plunge for almost a decade.  There is a MN Polar Plunge site at Lake Waconia. We have high hopes that this will be our biggest Polar Plunge year yet at ONE10.  Anyone wanting to plunge, there is still time to create or join a team

The money raised from Polar Plunge supports the Unified Champion Schools program at ONE10, Waconia Inclusive Playground and the MN Special Olympics.

Plunge Date: Saturday, February 12th

Where: Lake Waconia Regional Park

Polar Plunge Link:

ONE10 has been a leader statewide for raising funds through Polar Plunge. It would be so cool to exceed our money raising record and be the top school district in the state, once again.  This will be my ninth year plunging for this cause and I am so proud to help with such a great cause.

A few seconds of being cold is a small price to pay to help provide inclusive programming in the district!  Please feel free to sign up or donate.  Thanks!  WE Are ONE10!!

Jersey Mike’s and the Polar Plunge

One way to help raise money for the Polar Plunge is by visiting Jersey Mike’s this weekend Friday through Sunday February 4th through the 6th. Jersey Mike’s will donate half of your purchase back to WMS for the Polar Plunge. If you order online use the code WMS50. If you make your purchase in the story please hand them this Jersey Mike's WMS Fundraising Flyer. You can just tell them, but for purposes of accurately counting they prefer that you hand them the flyer.

Rapid COVID-19 Test Kits for Staff

The district recently received BD Veritor COVID-19 test kits from the state.  These test kits are nasal swab rapid antigen tests intended for staff use.  In order to use these test kits you will need to download an app on your smartphone.  To complete the test it takes approximately 20 minutes  MDH BD Veritor At Home COVID-19 Testing Information.  Staff are allowed one test kit per week while supplies last.  Kits are available in building health offices.  In addition to the new BD Veritor rapid antigen tests, staff also have access to Vault PCR saliva test kits in the health office.  Locally Carver County continues to offer free COVID-19 saliva tests on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12noon-4pm at the Lake Waconia Event Center.

Have a Wonderful Weekend and a Fantastic February!!!
