Happy New Year and Welcome to 2022!!

Hopefully all staff were able to find time to relax and rejuvenate over the winter break and enjoy some family time and a well deserved break.

We all needed the break and, the way the first week back has developed, we all needed to be rejuvenated.  2022 has started out with a bang.  It’s been a crazy week and we all have been put to the test right away with: cold weather; positive Covid cases; new CDC guidelines; delayed response from MDH/MDE; OSHA ETS expectations, all in one week. You continue to deliver a great education to our students.  I realize that my encouragement and appreciation for what you do is redundant….yet I can’t help saying it again…..Thanks so much for all the Amazing, Incredible and Great work that is done by ALL at ONE10!!  Your persistence for excellence through the toughest challenges is exceptional.  It is you who continues to make ONE10 a great place for kids and staff alike.  THANK YOU!!

Covid Numbers are on the Rise

This week we expected to see our Covid number increase due to the holiday break and lack of reporting over break, but the increase is higher than expected. This is the case especially at the high school where we have about 4.5% reporting positive Covid cases.  As the Covid variant Omicron attacks our community, it’s proving to be very contagious.  Please do all you can to stay safe and be well.  We continue to follow the ONE10 Safe Learning Plan and will use the scalpel approach to increase mitigation strategies as needed…similar to what we have done so far this year. I will report our Covid situation to the school board at the work session on Monday to see if there are more safety strategies to consider. From what we hear from states that have experienced the Omicron virus, it moves fast and is aggressive, so the next few weeks could be challenging.  Again, thank you for everything you do to keep students and staff safe at ONE10.

CDC Announces New Recommendations

Over winter break we heard that the CDC released new recommendations for isolation of positive Covid cases to 5 days with an additional 5 days of masking for those healthy enough to return early.  MDH has still not released their guidelines on how to implement this at the school level, yet MDE is supporting CDC and waiting for MDH.  We expect to get that information mid-next week.  I plan to discuss this with the school board on Monday to see how we can move forward with these new protocols.

Here is information on this from Carver County Public Health:

There have been a lot of changes this past week with CDC’s announcement regarding changes to isolation and quarantine guidance. MDH and MDE have indicated they will be following the new CDC guidance for K-12 schools and are working to update and review their documents, but they are not likely to be published until next week.

Vaccination and testing continue to be primary mitigation strategies in our fight against Covid. We are also currently able to offer Vault saliva tests (a PCR test) at the Waconia Event Center 3 days a week (M/W/F) from 12-4 PM. No appointments are required. Please note the community testing sites, including Carver County’s, are not intended to meet the demand for any OSHA-required employer testing.

Federal OSHA ETS

I want to thank our Human Resource office for all their diligent work to prepare us so we can be in compliance with the Federal OSHA ETS starting Monday, 1/10/22.  The MN OSHA Department has already supported the federal ruling and held off on enforcing it until 1/10/22.  That is why ISD ONE10 has set expectations for all employees to follow.  All at ONE10 have received numerous emails over the past month explaining the expectations, so hopefully, each employee fully understands their responsibility depending upon their vaccination status.  We realize this will create more stress on our employees and school system, yet we have no choice but to comply with OSHA or be at risk of large violation fines.

WE Are ONE10 Day is Monday 1/10/22.💜

It's a great day to celebrate all the fantastic work that is happening at ONE10.  With all that is going on and the stresses that continue to come with this pandemic....especially now, we need a little joy and "WE Are ONE10 Day" is a great day to come together as ONE.  We look forward to seeing all the joy students and staff experience on WE Are ONE10 Day, Monday, 1/10/22.  ALL are encouraged to wear Wildcat gear and plan fun events. It should be a Wonderful Day of celebrating ONE10!

WE Are ONE10!

Enjoy the Day!

Have a Wonderful Weekend!!!

Enjoy “WE Are ONE10 Day”
