Have you heard the question, "So, what is GO•REC?"  We have. Many times. Our answer: Northern Michigan's resource for learning outdoor skills.

We've spent the last few months creating online content to help you know before you go.  And it wasn't just for mid-pandemic fun!  Whether you are an outdoors pro, it's your first time sitting in a kayak, or you are just curious about what others are doing, stay tuned to our ExploreGO•REC channel in the days ahead for brand new packages of outdoor skills and transformative learning experiences!
Over the last few decades, Cliff and his wife Lottie were your friends, neighbors, coworkers, mentors, and - for many of you - like family. They lived here, shared their family with us, created memories with us, imparted wisdom to us, but most importantly, shared their life with us. We are so grateful to have been part of your world and miss you already! Enjoy retirement....though knowing you Cliff, you're already tinkering on your next project.

Last month, GO•REC joined 500 other businesses, government agencies, nonprofits, outdoor media outlets, and influencers led by Outdoor Alliance to create the Recreate Responsibly Coalition. We have committed to share guidelines and walk-the-talk for how to #RecreateResponsibly during COVID-19.

Recreating responsibly is about people and places. Bring a face covering, avoid crowded or closed areas, and build an inclusive outdoors where everyone is welcome. Be part of the #RecreateResponsibly movement: https://www.recreateresponsibly.org/

Building an "inclusive outdoors where everyone is welcome" starts with self-awareness. To gain some insight into unpacking our proverbial white privilege backpack, spend some time with the Melanin Base Camp Guide to Outdoor Allyship.

Have you seen our #getoutside101 videos on Facebook or Youtube?  We've got everything from backcountry cooking to anchor building to mountain biking.
Every Thursday at 8:00pm, Jamie meets up with a special guest for a brewed beverage around a bonfire to talk about doing business outdoors and streams it live on Zoom, Facebook and Instagram.

Upcoming guests include: July 9 - Julie Clark from TART Trails, July 16 - Rob Schumacker with Wilderness Medical Associates, and July 23 - Dan Novak with RaceTC.
