Friday Footnotes from the Head of School. Look for these messages to occur on alternate Fridays and other selected days throughout the year. In this space, we'll reflect and explore matters of school and family life related to the work and mission of Daycroft Montessori School.
Dear Daycroft families,
I trust your summer is off to a great start. Today, we ended our first week of a very successful summer camp program and are looking forward to the robust and active weeks ahead of fun-filled summer engagement.
While it was just last week that we celebrated the conclusion of a wonderful year together, we are well underway in our planning for the coming school year. In the coming weeks, you can anticipate the launch of our new website and data management system as well as the rollout of our new branding and marketing initiatives; all of which are coming together nicely and on schedule.
We’re also putting the final touches on our classroom plans and assignments for next year. You can anticipate student classroom assignments to be announced in early August. Below is a listing to date of our anticipated teacher and staff assignments for the 2018-2019 school year. The current plan is based on projected enrollments in each classroom and reflects the strength and expertise of each faculty member in their respective roles. We remain committed to creating an intimate and personalized learning environment with high levels of individual support for each student.
On the Oakbrook Campus, our new toddler program will be staffed by Rachel Montgomery and Mirian Mestari. Our pre-school classrooms will be staffed with Arthi Krishnamoorthy and Terri Fisher in the Willows, Payal Shah and Dave Willoughby in the Aspens, and Beth Brow and Purabi Dhar in the Elms. Our Young 5/Kindergarten will continue to be led by Loree Clifford.
On the Zeeb Campus, our Kindergarten class will continue to be led by Julie McClelland. Our 1/2A and 1/2B classrooms will be led by Jeanine Wright and Loris Hiemstra. Our 3/4A and 3/4B classrooms will be led by Rob Campbell and Sehar Saadullah. Each of these classrooms will serve as the assigned student’s homeroom and core academic setting with frequent opportunities for collaboration and joint activities between the adjacent classrooms. The 5/6 classroom will be led by Niki Buchanan with math instruction supported by Amy Morrell. Megan Nicholson will continue to lead the 7/8 program.
Supporting the classroom teachers in their work with students, we plan to staff our co-curricular program with the following team that will include Amy Morell leading integrated instruction in E-STEM (Environmental, Science, Technology Engineering and Math), Blaise Badynee in Spanish, Suzanne Higgins in Art, Ashley Grebe in Music and Bonnie Dingman in Health, Wellness and Physical Education.
New for next year will be expanding our Student Enrichment Program which will include more after-school activities for students as well as expanded summer opportunities. Michelle McGrath will take on the duties of scheduling, planning and registration for these programs. Look for a complete list of expanded opportunities coming with our new website later this summer. We plan to offer after-school enrichment beginning the first week of the new school year with registration available in August.
Enjoy your summer with your family and look for further updates as they become available.
